The Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Ngannou Djoumessi, has commissioned a newly constructed 5.5km access road leading to the CIMENCAM cement plant in Nomayos, in the Mefou and Akono Division of the Centre Region

The double lane road, measuring 3.5 metres wide each and 5.5 km long is on the Yaounde-Douala highway.

The close to 6 billion FCFA-worth road infrastructure realised with funds from the Public Investment Budget was officially put to use on Wednesday, November 29.

The realisation of the project falls in line with government’s policy of supporting private investment in the country. Minister Ngannou Djoumessi, while commissioning the access road, said it will facilitate circulation at the fast growing Nomayos industrial zone.

“This project is to support CIMENCAM’s investments in our country. It is no secret that government policy aimed at supporting private investment results in the creation of such infrastructures,” Minister Ngannou Djoumessi said.

To him, “the road provides easy access to the agro-industrial zone. It provides easy access to a production plant and is therefore a political will of the Head of State that we have materialised today by putting into service this road built to serve this Nomayos cement plant...,”.

Minister assured the population whose properties were destroyed in the process of constructing the road and whose indemnities have not yet been paid that they will received their pay within the shortest time possible.

The road project has made it possible to improve and facilitate access to a large residential area in full development, with a lighting system installed along the route.

Through the development of the road, the Ministry of Public Works continues the implementation of the Road Connectivity Program and the promotion of private initiatives, in accordance with the political program of President Paul Biya.

The access roads thus developed make it easy to transport cement produced at the Nomayos factory to the product distribution points.

This facility, which has a certain impact on the cost of purchasing cement and the availability of the product, helps to materialise the support of the government and its support, for the interest of consumers who are citizens.

The project to construct the access road to the CIMENCAM cement plant in Nomayos was born from the desire of the public authorities to support the Cimenteries du Cameroun.

It should be noted that Les Cimenteries du Cameroun, requested the government to develop a road from Yaounde III to the Nomayos factory to facilitate access for cement production to distribution points.

The access road which covers the Mfoundi and Mefou and Akono divisions in the Centre Region was constructed by SOMAF/Croisière BTP group.
