Ngoketunjia: Suspected Amba fighters kidnap, kill Balikumbat deputy mayor.

The sad news was made known on Saturday November 25, through a WhatsApp message, circulated by the Ngoketunjia Divisional Delegate of Secondary Education.

According to the message that circulated on social media, Passi Christopher Dobah, who doubles as the Second Deputy Mayor of Balikumbat council, was kidnapped about two weeks ago, during a funeral service in his village of Balighashu.

In a video that circulated on social media, the school principal had been seen being whisked away by the gunmen, when he was making a speech at the said funeral.

After murdering him, Passi’s remains were dropped in his village by the kidnappers, who are were referred to as 'gunmen' by to the Education Delegate.

The exact reason the Principal was kidnapped and later killed is still to be established.

Passi Christopher had successfully mobilised the community of Mbeunkong to reopen the school this academic year. This happened after the institution was forced to close its doors, just like many others some years back, as a result of the Anglophone crisis.

Passi's execution has been described by many as a big loss to the education family of Ngoketunjia and Cameroon at large.

The Biology teacher is noted to have groomed many science students who schooled in Ndop in the years back.

His killing is just one among many teachers who have been kidnapped, molested and killed as a result of the over seven -year armed conflict in the North West and South West Regions.

Passi’s killing comes just weeks after the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Ngoketunjia Division, Quetong Handerson Kongeh, had re-echoed the call that runaway civil servants in the Division should go back to their duty posts or risk losing their jobs.
