At National Day in Bafoussam: Governor Awa Fonka urges population to promote peace, social cohesion.

He made the call at the Bafoussam ceremonial grandstand during the celebration of the 51st edition of the National Day on May 20.

The ceremony kicked off when the Governor arrived the ceremonial ground, accompanied by security forces and his entourage. 

After the singing of the national anthem and review of troops, there was the award of medals to meritorious citizens for their different services rendered to the nation.

For more than three hours, a very colourful military parade and civilian march past took place under the watchful eyes of the senior civil administrator. 

The day was celebrated under the theme: “Defense Forces and Cameroonian people in harmony to safeguard peace and national unity, bedrock of a strong and prosperous Cameroon”.

Defense and security forces, pupils and students from the different public and private schools in Mifi Division, made the event very colourful and successful. 

The military parade and civilian march past was chaired by the Governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine. This was in the presence of many political, municipal, administrative and traditional authorities. The ceremony ended with the award of prizes to those who participated in activities to mark the National Day celebration. 

Celebrations continued in different locations, especially at the residences of the Governor, other administrative authorities and those who were awarded medals.
