NW Regional Assembly President knighted, dedicates medal to population.

He was decorated with a medal and raised to the rank of Grand Officer of the Order of Valour, on behalf of President Paul Biya, by the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele L'afrique. This was during celebration to mark the 51^st National Day on May 20^th in Bamenda.

Speaking after receiving the State recognition, Prof Fru Angwafo, said the medal is not for him alone, but for the entire population who have been collaborating with the Regional Assembly for peace to return in the Region and also for actions geared at fostering development.

“I am very grateful to the Head of State, President Paul Biya, for this honor. This medal is for the institution that I head and the entire population. The medal sends a signal to the people of the North West Region. I am just carrying the medal," Prof Fru Angwafo told reporters.

Drawing inspiration from the theme of this year's National Day: “Defense forces and Cameroon people in harmony to safeguard peace and national unity, bedrock to a strong and prosperous Cameroon,” the Regional Assembly president revealed that the medal is a tap on his back to work hard in mobilising the population for a harmonious living and for peace to reign in the Region.

“I know that this medal is coming to me to work more by mobilising the population to work for local development, especially in line with the Regional Assembly's peace and development projects. So, I think this medal is a special message to the population of the North West Region,” Prof Angwafo added.

He seized the opportunity to challenge the people to live the present and plan a fruitful future for the Region. 

“Forget about the past, live the present and work for the future. Let's seize this opportunity to live together, dialogue and identify the local projects that the Regional Assembly is financing,” he added.

Projects realised by NW Regional Assembly 

Since the North West Regional Assembly went operational in 2021, the structure has, under the leadership of Prof Fru Angwafo, carried out projects in all seven Divisions of the Region in the domain of health, education, sports and others.

Some of the projects include the construction, rehabilitation and supply of equipment to some institutions. Of recent, the body engaged in a peace and development initiative in all Divisions of the North West Region.

The institution has also unveiled robust campaign to ensure return to peace across the Region for development projects to be executed to the benefited of all and sundry. 

It should be noted that the National Day in Bamenda chaired by the Region’s Chief Executive Officer, witnessed military and civilian march past, including staff of the North West Regional Assembly.
