At launch of National Day in Tubah: Youth Affairs Minister urges NW population to work for peace.

Minister Mounouna was speaking on May 12 at the campus of the University of Bamenda, UBa, in Bambili, Tubah Subdivision.

This was during the launch of civilian activities to mark this year's 20th May celebration.

The launching ceremony took place in the presence of several authorities, including the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in- charge of the Supreme State Audit Office, CONSUPE, Mbah Acha Rose; North West Governor, Adolphe Lele L'afrique; and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Bamenda, Prof Theresia Nkuo Akenji.

Also conspicuously present was Senate bureau member and renowned traditional ruler, Fon Chafah XI of Bangolan.

Speaking during the event, Minister Mounouna told the population that the choice of where to launch this year's activities was made by the Head of State.

He said the choice of the North West Region was inspired by President Biya’s wish for peace to return to the restive Anglophone Regions.

"The choice of the Head of State to launch the National Day here in Tubah is very symbolic, considering the complex situation. As you know, peace is coming back and this is because of the synergy between the population and security forces to preserve national unity," Minister Mounouna said.

The Minister added that the choice of where to launch the activities was also in line with this year's theme: "Defense forces and Cameroon people in harmony to safeguard peace and national unity, bedrock to a strong and prosperous Cameroon”.

"I think that it is also a call for the population, security forces and all active forces of the Region to continue to work towards bringing back peace. I am happy that the population of the Region has responded massively," Minister Mounouna added.

The event also saw the distribution and handing over of biometric youth cards, some national emblems to youth groups and associations as a way to encourage them on their peace initiatives.

The ceremony also witnessed match pass activities carried out by some institutions and groups.

Before proceeding to launch the National Day activities in Bambili, the Minister had earlier visited Baligham in Santa Subdivision and Bamendankwe, in Bamenda I Subdivision.

During the visits, the Minister inaugurated two separate Youth Empowerment Centres.
