Hon Malomba takes peace crusade, Biya’s humanitarian aid to Tole.

The peace campaign was launched Thursday April 20 during a visit to the area. The Member of Parliament was in Tole on the invitation of the Tole Community Development Association, CODA, and the Tole Old Boys and Girls Association, TOBGA.

Taking to the rostrum during the visit, the youthful, yet exceedingly experienced politician, preached the message of peace, harmonious living together, and unity for the development and emergence of Cameroon as envisioned by President Paul Biya.

He said he had come not only to commune with the people of Tole but also to thank them for their constant support for the CPDM party and its national Chairman, President Paul Biya.

Though not a political rally, the smartly-dressed MP congratulated the people of Tole for standing by the ruling party at all political confrontations.

He said he was in Tole to also deliver to some vulnerable households, humanitarian assistance from the Presidential Couple. He had proceeded to handing over the material items to some needy persons in Tole.

Speaking during the event, the Coordinator of the Community Development Association-CODA, Otia Vitalis; the President General of the Tole Old Boys and Girls Assocation-TOBGA, Kebei Eugene Kah and the Municipal Councillor/Sub-section President of the CPDM in Tole, Sama Ngetike; all expressed gratitude to the Head of State and government for the measures taken to ensure that peace reigns in Tole.

They had also immediately appealed for more development projects to be carried out in Tole. 

In a swift response, Hon Malomba made an on-the-spot-donation of 750,000 FCFA to support an ongoing community initiative in partnership with the South West Development Authority, SOWEDA. The project seeks to rehabilitate the main street in Tole. 

More than just a visit

In a scripted address delivered at Thursday’s event in Tole, the President General of the Tole Old Boys and Girls Association, TOBGA, Kebei Eugene Kah, described the visit of the MP as historic. 

He said it was the first time the lawmaker came visiting since the people of Tole overwhelmingly voted him to represent them in parliament.

Describing Hon Malomba as young, energetic and people-friendly, Kebei Kah, said the visit by the lawmaker constituted a show of appreciation to the people of Tole whom he said, have always stood by the CPDM.

“Tole, as I said earlier, was an epicentre of the socio- political crisis that has been rocking the North West and South West Regions of our country. We lived and saw the blood of our children being spilt by our own sons because of manipulation,” Kah told the visiting MP.

Kah rejoiced that “…the youth of this community who are present here today rose and said ‘enough is enough’ and together as one man drove the perpetrators of this mayhem out of this land in collaboration with the forces of law and order and the administration”.

“Life has returned to normalcy and our people are going about their activities in all serenity,” he added.

Turning to other issues, Kah explained to the August guest that “Tole, like any other village in your constituency has its own fair share of problems”.

He said: “The road from the Catholic Primary School leading into the village is in a horrible state and if something is not done, Tole shall be cut off from the rest of your constituency”.

“The water supply cannot meet the needs of the growing population. Our lone health centre was razed during the crisis and our people are now left to themselves without any medical centre to cater for their health needs,” he also tabled.

“We are clamoring for more teachers in our schools in Tole. We, the people of Tole, stand with you and the institutions you incarnate,” he concluded.

Biya hailed for promoting peace

Meanwhile, in a joint declaration issued at the end of the visit by the Community Development Association of Tole, CODA, and the Tole Old Boys and Girls Association, TOBGA, the groups on behalf of the people of Tole expressed gratitude to the Head of State for his unwavering policy of peace and harmonious living together.

They also expressed gratitude for the action taken by government and the local administration to guarantee security in Tole.

The groups also thanked President Biya and wife for the humanitarian assistance channeled through the Minister of Territorial Administration and delivered to vulnerable persons in Tole.

The groups reaffirmed their “commitment to work for peace and the development of our community and the nation”.

They meanwhile prayed “government to allocate more development projects to Tole particularly in the areas of roads, provision of pipe borne water, electrification, improvement of our public health care facility, renovation and updating of our primary and secondary schools, women/youth empowerment as well as offer employment to our youths”.

Several traditional dance groups and merry-making enveloped the historic visit of Hon Malomba to Tole, last Thursday.
