FIRST Ladies Int’l Network founder wins Overall African Woman Achiever Award.

Martha Monono Kombe was conferred the prestigious Overall African Woman Achiever Award in the "Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, (Charity Foundation) category recently.

This was during the 2023 African Woman Awards that was hosted in Ethiopia. Martha Monono Kombe, popularly known as Ma Martha, was among laureates who were drawn from 19 African countries. 

She was the only Cameroonian based in the country who received the prestigious award this year. Two other Cameroonians who featured in the award are based in France and the United States of America, USA. 

FLIN founder expresses gratitude, pledges to do more 

The award, it should be said, was handed to FIRST Ladies International Network founder in honour of the charity foundation's outstanding humanitarian works in the country and across the globe. 

Speaking to The Guardian Post shortly after the recognition, FLIN founder, Martha Monono Kombe, said the award is a call for her and team to do more.

“It is a great feeling and calls for more work,” she said while dedicating the award to her entire team. 

“It is true the award came to the association through the founder, but I think the praises go more to everybody who has been donating and working towards it,” Martha Monono Kombe said. 

Congratulations galore 

Martha Monono Kombe and team have been receiving messages of congratulations from across the board for their strides made in humanitarian activities in almost all the ten Regions of the country and beyond the national frontiers. 

This was reflected in the reception that was offered Martha Monono Kombe after the award by Cameroon’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E Churchill Ewumbue-Monono. 

Ambassador Churchill Ewumbue-Monono granted Martha Monono Kombe an audience and congratulated her for her activities in connection to the network's overall vision shortly after the award. 

The diplomat said the award brings honour to the country. Ambassador Churchill Ewumbue-Monono commended the evidence of the works of Martha Monono Kombe via the First Ladies International Network that is now receiving international recognition. 

Hero’s welcome back home 

First Ladies International Network founder, it should be said, was given a hero’s welcome by the entire team upon her return after the award. 

Her home-coming was graced with a heartwarming reception from the airport through a thanksgiving ceremony organised in her honour by the FLIN's across the globe. 

The expressions of joy and fulfillment were written on the faces of all who turned out for the ceremony.
