MIDENO staff upgrade knowledge on preparing results-based monitoring, evaluation plan.

This was during a three-day in-house capacity workshop from March 29 to 31, organised by the Monitoring and Evaluation, M&E, department of the organisation.

The workshop was facilitated by Fru Irene Lum, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of MIDENO, and supervised by Ndeh Emmanuel Esichiwuh, Director of the Technical Department, who sat in for the Director General throughout the event.

The participants, comprising of service heads and representatives, discussed on topics like the introduction to results-based management, introduction to stakeholder identification and assessment, preparation of report schedules, introduction to assumptions and risk management, amongst others.

According to the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Fru Irene Lum, the training was aimed at laying a foundation for the designing of a functional M&E system for MIDENO, which shall be used in future to measure its interventions.

"In order for MIDENO to measure its success and impact on the various activities being carried out and also report on its results, monitoring and evaluation has become an essential function to root in all programmes and projects of the authority," Fru said.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer added that the system will be developed progressively with the help of some partners

"After this, the system will be developed progressively by the M&E officer in collaboration with some internal stakeholders and some implementing partners until the final product will be achieved. We believe that with this tool, the Authority will be able to measure the success of its interventions and also improve on its performance so as to improve on the living standards of the population," Fru added.

Group works were also presented by various departments including that of finance, communication, procurement, equipment pole and others. They presented on the construction of logic models, identification of assumptions and indicators for each facet of intervention of the Authority.

During the three-day training workshop, the Director of the Technical Department, Ndeh Emmanuel, used his expertise to also help the participants easily understand most of the topics. He also urged them to be reliable and responsible in their various portfolios.

At the end of the workshop, some participants said they were satisfied with the training. Many of them promised to apply some of the knowledge learned in their areas of concern.

The M&E Officer, on her part, said she was impressed with the turnout and the wonderful contributions and input they shared for the development of the Authority.

"To say the least, I am very satisfied with the turnout for the workshop. All service units were present and the interest expressed by the participants and their commitment towards making meaningful contributions was wonderful," Fru said.

The Director General of MIDENO, Cletus Anye Matoya, despite his busy schedule, still made a stop and checked how the workshop was unfolding, which is an indication of how interested he is in the awaited results.
