Andre Onana Foundation seals partnership with Spanish feminine club.

Former Indomitable Lioins goalkeeper, Andre Onana through his foundation has signed a partnership deal with Spanish female club, Getafe Femenino.

Onana who owns Cameroon women’s topflight club, Éclair of Sa’a finalised the deal with his Spanish partners on Wednesday March 29 in Madrid.

The partnership is said to allow female players from Éclair de Sa'a, a Guinness Super League club, to join the Spanish third Division team to perfect their skills.

During the visit, Onana met with two compatriots who were recently signed from Cameroon to the European club.

The two players, Raissa Mbappé and Rose Priso were signed last August and January, respectively.

The two signings had marked the beginning of relations between the two clubs.

A statement from the foundation said, “The André Onana Foundation and Club Deportivo Getafe Femenino have formalise a collaboration agreement for the promotion and development of Cameroonian football,”.

It further added that: “This alliance will allow the players of André Onana's club, l'Eclair de Saa (Yaoundé), to play in Spain and show their talent in European football. The first activation of this project was formalised with the incorporation of two Cameroonian players into the ranks of CD Getafe. The Inter Milan goalkeeper and Joseph Sanam, founder of the representation agency Alma Sports, launched this new project with the aim of fighting for equality and promoting the talent that resides in Cameroon and has the ability to shine in Europe,”.

Joseph Sanam further stressed on the importance of continuing to “build alliances with different clubs in Spain to offer more opportunities to players who can make a difference,”.

On his part, Alberto Pascual, sports director of CD Getafe Femenino, expressed his willingness to continue to "collaborate with Eclair de Saa in future projects for the good of Cameroonian football”.

Andre Onana announced his retirement from international football in December 2022, after failing out with the management of the Indomitable Lions during the Qatar World Cup.

He is now focused on club football in Italy where he plays for Inter Milan.
