Douala: MINAT boss visits victims of factory explosion, calls for calm.

The incident left at least 19 people wounded, authorities said. Yesterday, Minister Atanga Nji was at the Bonassamba District Hospital, in Bonaberi, were some of those wounded are receiving treatment.

Atanga Nji who also visited the site of the explosion in the company of the Governor of the Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha Diboua, called for calm.

He sounded confident that there was no reason to fear given that medics are already attending to the wounded workers. Going by Atanga Nji, the Governor of the Littoral Region had put the situation under control since Monday.

While visiting the accident site, the minister reiterated the need for safety measures to be beefed up. He reassured the managers of the company of the Head of State, President Paul Biya’s resoluteness to create an enabling environment that will favour investors.

The government, Atanga Nji said” is ready to help those who are in this difficult situation. This company has been operating in Cameroon for 20 years and they have been on this site for three years”.

 Atanga further said President Paul Biya directed him stop by after he was informed of the incident Monday. The minister told reporters that, “this is a big company having several workers. 

We have 19 wounded persons…some of them are going well but we have serious but we cannot comment further because doctors are still handling them”.

President Paul Biya, he also said, “has created a conducive environment for people to invest. This means the government is attached to the difficulties of some of these companies. So as of now, everything in under control, The Director General of the company has promised to do his best to help those involved”.

To note that, yesterday’s visit were on the sidelines of the minister’s mission to Buea where flood claimed two lives on  Saturday and left many homeless.
