Chief Makunde Dipoko Daniel takes command as Tiko Chiefs' Conference President.

Tiko Chief’s Conference President outlines mission to the press

The Paramount Ruler of Missaka Second Class Chiefdom, His Majesty Akasam Makunde Dipoko Daniel, has been installed as the new President of the Tiko Chiefs’ Conference.

He was elected alongside five other executive members and four supervisory advisers and installed by Nchourupouo Isaac Siril, the Assistant Divisional Officer of Tiko Subdivision.

This was on Thursday September 25, 2026, at the Tiko Subdivisional Office.

The new Executive Committee also includes HM Chief Etame Eleme Alexandre of Bonamuni village as vice president. HM Chief Billy Bob Ndive Lifongo of Lifongo is the Secretary General, while HM Chief Mboua Samuel Didier of Bonason village, HM Chief Mokake Isaac of Fue village and HM Chief Monono Likembi Robert of Bokwai village are Financial Secretary, Treasurer and Discipline Master respectively.

The Supervisory Committee includes HM Chief Nango Mwaimbe of Tiko village as Adviser No.1, HM Chief Aaron Ngeka of Mutengene village as Adviser No.2, HM Chief Embola Simon of Mudeka village as Adviser No.3 and HM Chief Joke Vako of Likomba village as Adviser No.4.

The new team ends over ten years of the reign of Chief Ndike Richard as the president.

In his inaugural acceptance speech, Chief Dipoko Daniel described his election as a product of God’s grace and a sacred trust bestowed by his fellow traditional rulers.

“Your Royal Majesties, your blessing today is not just an endorsement of my leadership; it is a sacred trust. I thank you for your wisdom, your guidance, and your unwavering commitment to the peace and progress of our people,” he said.

Chief Dipoko stressed that traditional institutions remain the bedrock of modern society, serving as centres of justice, welfare and community cohesion long before modern governance. He described traditional rulers as the trust bridge between the glorious past and the unfolding future.

In this light, he assured his peers that his administration would treat the institution with reverence and work to restore the honour it has lost.

“I assure you today that my administration will treat the traditional institution with the highest level of reverence, and restore the glory and honour our prestigious chieftaincy has lost. My team and I will not bypass your wisdom, nor will we ignore your counsel. Your palaces will remain our first point of consultation,” he pledged.

The new president, while acknowledging that a lot has gone wrong with the heritage handed down by their ancestors, called for a united front between all chiefs to right the wrongs.

“In life we do not walk with the fear for what we have lost, we rather walk with the love for what we have found,” he added.

Speaking to the press shortly after his installation, Chief Dipoko said the vision of his new bureau would be inclusivity and collective responsibility of all members.

“Our mandate is to ensure that we move with everyone. We are not going to leave anyone behind. The responsibility of one is the responsibility of all. If one person has a problem, all of us have that problem. That is the dynamic we want to introduce in our era,” he said.

On cultural revival, Chief Dipoko admitted that the chieftaincy institution is in crisis, but said putting all hands on deck with all stakeholders will enable them to achieve the restoration of their cultural heritage. In this light, he encouraged the population to judge them based on their results of the two-year mandate.
