Access Bank expresses interest in financing road projects.

Access Bank Cameroon Plc has opened discussions with the Ministry of Public Works, to explore financing opportunities for road infrastructure projects in the country. This, the bank has said, is in a bid to expand its involvement in projects linked to national development. 

The information was disclosed during a meeting between a delegation from the bank, led by its Managing Director, Ellis Nzo Asu, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works, Urbain Noël Ebang Mve. 



The meeting held in Yaounde on September 21, 2026.

During the meeting, Access Bank expressed its willingness to invest in road projects in Cameroon and strengthen cooperation with the ministry in infrastructure financing. It was said that the bank, now operating in Cameroon for three years, used the meeting to present its activities and obtain further information on MINTP's financing needs for infrastructure projects.

Reports say the discussions are expected to be followed by technical working sessions, involving some operational departments of the Ministry of Public Works. These include the Directorate General of Technical Studies and the Jointly Financed Road Projects Unit, CPR-FC.

According to works ministry, the technical sessions will enable the ministry to present Access Bank with a portfolio of road projects whose studies have been completed and which are seeking financing. The discussions are also expected to examine mechanisms through which resources could be mobilised to support the implementation of the projects.

The initiative comes as Access Bank seeks to strengthen its presence in Cameroon and expand relations with public institutions. According to the bank, it operates within a Pan-African banking group whose activities include trade facilitation, investment and development financing across the continent. 

Beyond infrastructure, Access Bank Cameroon says its financing activities cover small and medium-sized enterprises, large companies and individuals. Its products include credit facilities, insurance support and financial inclusion programmes.

The bank also provides vehicle financing through its Access Car Loan product. According to the institution, financing can cover up to 100% of the purchase price of new vehicles valued at a maximum of 30 million FCFA without a deposit, and up to 90% for used vehicles, with repayment periods of up to five years. The offer also covers electric and other environmentally friendly vehicles.

Access Bank Cameroon also says it supports SMEs and women-led businesses through credit, mentorship and dedicated programmes, including its W Pitch-a-Ton initiative for women entrepreneurs.

In the investment segment, Access Bank has launched Access Invest, a digital platform designed to facilitate transactions in the CEMAC secondary securities market. The bank is also into mobilising liquidity and financing for infrastructure and energy projects linked to national development.
