IPA unveils 370 billion FCFA-worth projects to create over 14,200 jobs.

Three metallurgy projects, the IPA revealed, account for 353.5 billion FCFA of the total and 12,850 of the expected jobs.

The agency further shared that Cameroon Steel Manufacturing Company has the biggest project. IPA said it plans to invest 247.5 billion FCFA and expects to create nearly 8,500 jobs. 

The Complexe Multi Industriel du Cameroun on its part, was said to be behind a FCFA 100-billion project with 4,050 jobs projected, while AZA Manufacturing plans to invest FCFA6 billion and create about 300 jobs.

According to the IPA, the metallurgy projects are linked to efforts to expand industrial activity and process raw materials locally. 

In tourism and leisure, IPA disclosed that SCI Emergence plans to invest FCFA 10 billion in a project expected to create 1,100 jobs, while Christinal Hotel has announced a 5.2-billion FCFA project with 282 jobs projected. 

The IPA said the two projects would add to the country’s tourism and hotel infrastructure and support related activities.

The sixth project, according to the investment agency comes from FAGRICAM Industrie, which plans to invest 1.6 billion FCFA in manufacturing and expects to create 35 jobs. 

The agency also reported an upward revision to the value of an existing investment by Yousheng Cement. 

Speaking at the signing, IPA Interim General Manager Boma Donatus thanked the investors for choosing Cameroon. He referred to the presence of Chinese investors in several sectors and said cooperation with China could help Cameroon gradually acquire industrial technology.

“I thank you, on behalf of the government, for choosing Cameroon as an investment destination. As the Head of State said, one word: continue,” Boma said.
