Minister lauds successful kidney transplants at Y’de General Hospital.

The Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie, has hailed staffs of the Yaounde General Hospital for carrying out a successful kidney transplants on some three compatriots.

The message saluting the exploit is the content of a communique he issued Saturday February 11. In the release, the minister also urged the population to have confidence in the health system of the country.

According to the release, some three young Cameroonians who suffered from chronic kidney failure, benefited from successful kidney transplants at the health facility.

The three kidney transplant surgeries, the release added, were carried out between January 31 and February 2, 2023. The minister disclosed the patient as being of ages; 25, 28 and 33.

The donors, the member of government said were all family members of the recipients.

“These major achievements which are recorded in our health facilities, and in this case, at the Yaounde General Hospital, are the result of the progressive and continuous upgrading of the infrastructure and the technical platform,” the minister stated.

This, the minister said, is equally thanks to the good qualification of the health personnel who were again saluted by President Paul Biya in his address to the Nation, on 31 December 2022.

The member of government reiterated his congratulation to the health official, “who achieved this exploit, and to encourage the ‘health soldiers’ who do not spare their expertise to relieve the sufferings of our populations and thus contribute to the improvement of their well-being”.

The said government remains committed to modernise the health sector. He said the upgrading of the nation’s health system is in line with  President Paul Biya’s  Universal Health Coverage policy for citizens.
