Giving back to community: DEHFOPAD donates learning materials to GS Ebamut.

The school kits are to help prepare the learners for the 2026/2027 academic year, which officially kicks off on Monday, September 7, 2026.

DEHFOPAD officials handed the items during a ceremony, held on the school campus of Ebamut village, on August 27, 2026. 

Beneficiaries were handed school bags, exercise books, pens, rulers and sportswear. DEHFOPAD also offered teaching materials to the school and tracksuits to teachers. 

DEHFOPAD Founder recalls humble school days

DEHFOPAD Founder and Executive Director, Etiba Divine Ndonge, addressed the ceremony virtually.  

Ndonge, who attended GS Ebamut as a child, said the donation was an emotional return to the school, where his educational career began. He recounted how he left the institution with limited means but strong ambitions.

“I left Government School Ebamut many years ago as a small boy with dusty feet, a torn uniform and big dreams. Today, I return as a son of this soil because I am a product of Government School Ebamut,” Ndonge said.

According to Ndonge, pupils sometimes wrote on the floor because there were no desks and how three children shared a single pencil. He added that teachers also used charcoal whenever the school ran out of chalk. 

He said the experience taught him that education could connect children from remote communities to opportunities beyond their villages.

Ndonge explained that DEHFOPAD was created to bring assistance to communities facing hardship, beginning with his home village. He used the opportunity to urge the pupils to remain in school, be focused, hardworking and respect their parents and teachers.

“This donation may look small, but it carries a big message; that an Ebamut child can also make it,” Ndonge said, while urging the pupils to never allow their present circumstances determine their future.

On her part, DEHFOPAD Public Relations Officer, Dr Olive Ejang Tebug, encouraged the pupils to remain focused on their education.

Beneficiaries hail DEHFOPAD

The Head Teacher of GS Ebamut, Ngole Charles Ndile, thanked DEHFOPAD for assisting the school amid difficult conditions. He said the gifts will go a long way to help staff in their duties to impact knowledge on young compatriots. 

Speaking on behalf of parents, Ntungwe Damian, thanked the Foundation for reducing their back-to-school expenses. 

The traditional ruler of Ebamut, HRM Chief Esong Julius Etiba, praised the Founder of DEHFOPAD for supporting his alma mater. He called on other members of the community to undertake similar initiatives.

The ceremony ended with traditional dances and another ballet performance by the pupils. DEHFOPAD has announced it plans to extend its educational assistance to surrounding villages.

Operating under its slogan, “Resilience and Sustainable Progress,” DEHFOPAD officials said the donation is a promised made, which has been kept. 

It emerged during the ceremony that the donation is a fulfillment of an earlier commitment by the organization, to support pupils and staff of the institution. This, the organisation said, had as aim to help parents meet part of the cost of preparing their children for the new school year.

Beneficiary pupils transited their words of gratitude to the donor, through songs and ballet performances.
