Yaounde-Douala road accident kills seven, injures 10.

According to reports, a passenger bus belonging to Avenir Voyage collided with a truck, leaving several people dead and others injured.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear. Rescue teams and emergency services were reportedly dispatched to the scene to evacuate the injured and provide assistance.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement confirming the death toll. However, reports circulating on social media indicate that more than seven people may have lost their lives in the crash. The identities of the victims had not been established as of press time.

The accident, it was said, also caused traffic congestion along the busy highway for several hours but security forces and emergency responders worked to clear the road, restore traffic flow and assist those affected. 

The Edea crash adds to a growing list of deadly accidents recorded on Cameroon’s national roads in recent weeks.

On August 14, 2026, a road accident in Nomale, Ndikinimeki, claimed 16 lives, including seven members of the same family who were travelling to attend a funeral.

The Douala-Yaounde highway is considered one of the country’s deadliest road sections, with mechanical failures, speeding and poor visibility frequently cited among the causes of accidents.

According to road users, the accident should serve as a reminder to the ministry of transport and transport agencies to increase controls, enforce speed limits, and to make sure vehicles are roadworthy before departing for a long journey.
