UK explores ways to make Cameroon´s business climate more attractive.

The delegation that visited some Cameroonian personalities and some UK businesses in the country, was received by Paul Tasong, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT in Charge of Planning.

This was before they took off to the economic capital, Douala, to visit some British companies already operating in that part of the country.

The British High Commissioner to Cameroon, H.E Christian McClure, who led the delegation to the Minister Delegate, told reporters that heads of the visiting enterprises will sign Memoranda of Understanding, MoU, with as many local business operators as are found worthy.

Adding that the drive by Britain to boost cooperation ties with Cameroon will be translated into win-win business partnerships between Cameroonian private business operators and their British counterparts.

He proceeded to enumerate sectors that UK firms are most interested in, including agriculture, health, education, energy and water supply, among others.

In a similar visit last year, local business operators identified not less that 180 British companies that are interested in establishing their businesses in Cameroon.

That visit was a follow up to a joint business mission that was organised in London for the benefit of private business operators of both countries.

“I have to say that at the joint commission in London, we had an exceptional amount of interest from over 180 British companies wanting to come and do business in Cameroon. They already feel that the climate for business can be made more attractive and what we want to do now is build all that together,” stated the then British High Commissioner to Cameroon.

He added that it is important to support business across the different activities but the priority will be looking at the business climate in Cameroon and how UK can work together to improve that and make it even more attractive.
