2026 investment projects: Tubah Council hits 48% implementation.

The progress report was disclosed during the council’s mid-term evaluation held session held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The session brought together council officials, administrative officials led by the Senior Divisional Officer of Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh, contractors and development partners to assess project implementation, identify challenges and outline priorities for the remaining months of the year. 

For the 2026 financial year, the council is implementing 26 development projects valued at approximately 1.3 billion FCFA. The projects are financed through the State budget, FEICOM, HIMO/MINEPAT and the council’s own resources.

The investments target infrastructure, environmental protection, waste management and improved public services.

According to the evaluation report, several projects have already been completed, while others are progressing steadily. 

Environmental conservation efforts are among the notable achievements, with the municipality reporting that 80% of its tree-planting programme, budgeted at 3.2 million FCFA, has been executed.

The council also completed a clean city competition worth about 5 million FCFA to encourage sanitation and community participation. 

Construction of a bridge in the Finge community has been finalised at a cost of 3.6 million FCFA, while work on new market sheds in Bambili has reached 90 percent completion.   

Rehabilitation of the Bambui Palace Museum, aimed at preserving the municipality’s cultural heritage, is now 87 percent complete after an investment of about 30 million FCFA. 

Major infrastructure projects are also advancing. Construction of a recycling plant valued at 125 million FCFA has reached 50% completion, while road paving works linking Agric Street, Ndikum Street, Pacific Street and the Government School Junction stand at 40 percent. The roads are expected to improve mobility and stimulate local economic activity. 

However, the review highlighted delays on a number of projects. Construction of a 47 million FCFA storage tank is yet to commence because contract award documents are still being processed. 

Water extension projects in Ntehmbang and protection works at the Atunui catchment have each achieved only five percent execution, prompting the council to issue warning letters to contractors. 

Electrification works in Ngohphana and Nchokeng have reached 95 percent, although the contractor has been summoned by the Senior Divisional Officer of Mezam over implementation delays. 

The council also reported the completion of a 4 million FCFA municipal waste management plan and disclosed that 150 temporary workers have been engaged to support project implementation. Maintenance of council trucks has equally been completed at a cost of 4.9 million FCFA.

Speaking at the close of the session, the Mayor of Tubah, Tanjong Martin, welcomed the progress made, but acknowledged that more effort is needed to deliver the remaining projects on schedule. 

He assured stakeholders that defaulting contractors would face administrative or legal sanctions where necessary and announced that preparations for the 2027 development programme have already been completed.

The mayor also commended traditional rulers for supporting last year’s back-to-school campaign and urged them to intensify community mobilisation, particularly through communal labour to improve the environment around government schools.

The meeting ended with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to accelerate project implementation during the second half of the year and ensure the municipality meets its 2026 development targets.
