At audience with Senate President: FEICOM DG says institution national development pillar.

The Director General of the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, has pledged to work in close collaboration with the Upper House of Parliament for overall development of the country. 

Camille Philippe Akoa made the pledge during a meeting with the President of the Senate, Aboubakary Abdoulaye, and other lawmakers of the legislative chamber on July 9, 2026.



Also present during the meeting were officials of the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development, the Minister Delegate to the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Relations with the Assemblies, the Permanent Secretary of the National Council for Decentralization, local elected officials and other senior officials in the administration.

Akoa told the lawmakers that as an institution created to foster grassroots development, FEICOM cannot relent in carrying out its responsibilities. 

He emphasized that there is need to explore more areas of collaboration with other State institutions. Akoa told reporters that the meeting with the President of the Senate reflects government´s ongoing commitment to decentralization, mutualization of resources and strengthening of territorial governance. 

FEICOM Director General said exchanges highlighted the essential role of inter-communalism and inter-regionalism as levers of territorial solidarity, efficiency of public action and coherence in the implementation of local development policies.

Akoa also used the meeting to remind Senators that FEICOM remains a reference institution in the service of the Decentralized Territorial Collectivities, faithful to its missions of solidarity and inclusion.

“Through our peer-equalization, project financing and advisory support mechanisms, we contribute to strengthening basic infrastructure, improving access to essential social services, and promoting harmonious and balanced local development,” Akoa told the lawmakers.

Akoa also assured the lawmakers that FEICOM has positioned itself as a privileged instrument of national solidarity and a major player in accompanying Municipal Councils, City Councils and Regional Councils in building a sustainable future for the benefit of all segments of the national population.
