Ebarko Matuke gets Divisional Delegate of The Year distinction.

Ebarko Ivo Matuke now Divisional delegate of Basic Education in Manyu Division, South West Region, has bagged the award of the Divisional Delegate of The Year.

He is the winner of the 2025 Divisional Delegate of The Year Award category of the 23rd edition of The Guardian Post Achievement Award.



Ebarko was announced winner during a recent ceremony in Ebolowa South Region.

According to the award jury, the distinction is based on the proposals of readers of The Guardian Post newspaper across the globe. 

Officials said, he was awarded for his extensive achievements while serving as divisional delegate in Meme Division in 2025.

Officials declared that the recognition is for “his discreet and grassroots efforts that have revived schools, increased enrollment and rolled back teachers absenteeism in the basic education sector across Meme division despite the security challenges”.

The award-winning delegate thanked organisers of the award and readers of The Guardian Post for massively voting him Divisional Delegate of The Year.

Ebarko also thanked God and his hierarchy for the renewed confidence in him to continue serving the State in such a portfolio.

He dedicated the award to all the staff of the basic education family in Meme and now Manyu division his current post. The official credited the award to the collective efforts of staff at the Meme Divisional Delegation of Basic Education. He also dedicated the award to his late mother who trained him.

Ebarko has risen in his career thanks to his consistent performance. He is a former Inspector of Basic Education in Kumba I and II Subdivisions.  He was promoted to Divisional Delegate in the heat of the crisis in the English-speaking regions. During his time in Meme, he worked with several stakeholders to revive schools and enforce teacher presence among other innovations.

Kedju Emmanuel, Chairman of the Mbonge Road Quarter Council, praised Ebarko and noted that such an honour comes once in a lifetime.

He congratulated the Divisional Delegate who is also the head of the Quarter for his great achievements. He also thanked Ebarko’s wife for standing with him through his challenging tasks of service to the nation.

Ebarko started work at the École Dauphine Bilingual Nursery and Primary School in Ndogmbong Douala. This was after he graduated from Government Bilingual Teachers Training College Kumba in 1995.

He was recruited in 1998. He has also taught at Government School Banga Mile 40, Government Secondary School Kosala, Government School Diongo, Head Teacher Government School Barombi Mbo.

He also at onetime as Acting Chief of Bureau For Exams at the Divisional Delegation Meme, Chief of Bureau School Map, Chief of Service for Statistics in the same structure.

Ebarko holds a Masters in Educational Administration and Planning. The Delegate is also Secretary General of the Kumba Traditional Council. He is also national president of pioneer batch of graduates of the Higher Technical Teacher Training College, HTTTC Kumba.
