PCC registered Board of Trustees members brandishing certificates of acceptance

The Paramount Ruler of the Bafaw and Nfon of Kumba, His Royal Majesty Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, has been inducted alongside four others as members of the Board of Trustees of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC.

This was during a church service at Presbyterian Church, PC Bastos, Yaounde Monday. The ritual was done by the Moderator of the PCC, Rt Rev Miki Hans Abia.

The Chairman of the Board is Elder Fongang Kem Moses, while Senator Nfon Mukete IV Ekoko, Justice Florence Awasom, Elder Maliva Simon Makoko and Mokom Comfort Fuei are members.

Meanwhile, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Supreme State Audit Office, Mbah Acha Rose, who has already served three mandates on the Board, church officials said, is taking an advisory role.

Faithful guardians of Church’s heritage

In a sermon, titled: “Seeing clearly to serve faithfully" drawn from Luke 6:36-42, Rt Rev Miki Hans Abia, said the Board of Trustees members are “servants of Jesus Christ and stewards of the Church”.

The Moderator stated that the induction was the formal affirmation of their commitment to carry out their duties with integrity, wisdom, diligence and faithfulness.

He said the Board is tasked with safeguarding and overseeing the Church’s landed property and other assets.

Rev Miki Hans noted that new congregations are emerging across the world, while new properties are being acquired. He also noted that new legal, financial and administrative realities have also emerged, demanding attention.

The Moderator also stated that growth comes with opportunities and complexities. In this light, he said the responsibility entrusted to the Board is coming at a critical moment in the history of the PCC.

“The Board of Trustees is called, not only to think about the next property transaction, they are called to think about the future of the global Church that the PCC has become,” the PCC Moderator stated.

The Moderator also enjoined the Board of Trustees members not to lose sight of their mission and work towards the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

The Moderator reminded them that: “It is a privilege to be chosen to serve in God’s vineyard”, adding that: “And these men and women, credible as they are, have been chosen to sacrifice their time, their energy, to take care of the landed property of the Church and the assets”.

He charged them to cheerfully honour the PCC, “to the glory of the Almighty God.”

Warns against pride, calls for true service

The Moderator also noted that the greatest danger to leadership is pride. Rev. Miki Hans recommended that they should “first submit themselves to God’s scrutiny before attempting to correct others.”

“The Church has placed confidence in you but even more importantly, Jesus Christ has placed a calling upon you. You are chosen to steward with mercy, you have been called to lead with humility, to exercise authority with accountability, to serve with integrity and to see with clarity,” the Moderator stated.

He also reminded them on the need to honour the sacrifices of previous generations, through the quality of their work while safeguarding the future of generations yet unborn.

Enter Board of Trustees Chairman

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Elder Fongang Kem Moses, pledged that they will work towards ensuring transparency and accountability.

He said it is a “very humble mission”. The Chairman said they shall commit all their resources, efforts and experiences to render services to God.

He said their mission is “to make sure that there is transparency in all that we do and that all our work is in line with the scripture".

He added that they’ll also make certain that those who "render services to God through us also do the same".  Justice Florence Awasum, said they are ready to exercise their duties.

The superscale magistrate, who is the Deputy Secretary of the Upper House of Parliament, said: “We will be able to do the job. God has given us the grace and the knowledge to do it and we just pray that He will give us the spirit of humility, accountability and not to fall into the temptation of the world to render our services to God”.
