Service to community: Hon Tabot Lawson outshines peers in SW, clinches distinction.

The jury of the prestigious award ceremony declared at the crowd pulling event that after compiling votes from readers of the leading newspaper in the Economic Community of Central African States, ECCAS, across the World, Hon. Tabot topped the chart.

Organisers explained that, based on popular assessment, the Kumba urban MP emerged the people’s representative in at the National Assembly with a presence on ground that benefits the people most.

The jury declared him the Best South West MP “for being the most active MP on the field and assisting the population in the domains of health, agriculture, education, sports and youth empowerment”. 

Speaking during the event, the chairman of the award jury, Theodore Mih Ndze, who is publisher of the weekly newspaper, The Guardian Post, cited Hon. Tabot among the nation’s most courageous individuals in the face of challenges in 2025.

Mih Ndze stated that, Hon Tabot has demonstrated severally that “true achievement is measured not by personal gain but by the lives touched and the communities uplifted and impacted”. 

He added that the MP like other laureates “represent the very best of what our nation wants and out people can achieve”.

The award jury chairman added that, any leadership which does not build what outlives an individual can’t be celebrated. In this light, he stated that Hon. Tabot deserves applause for his “remarkable contributions” to the wellbeing of his constituents.

He praised The Guardian Post newspaper and its publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Ngah Christian Kristian, for creating a platform that amplifies the works of exceptional individuals and celebrate excellence.

Synopsis of Hon Tabot’s works

With a constituency covering three subdivisions which play host of thousands of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, Hon Tabot has lived up to the billing in helping those in need. 

In 2025 alone, he reached out to displaced nursing mothers and pregnant women in need, in some rare cases, he clear health bills and provided accommodation to others.

Hon Tabot who is also one of the Secretaries at the National Assembly made several interventions in 2025 to improve the road network of Kumba. 

The MP has also sustained a tradition of offering farm inputs, didactics and other forms of support to women and children especially.

The Kumba Urban MP has championed effectively schooling for as long as the conflict in the English-speaking Regions has been on. Tabot has also invested enormously in value chain addition ventures to improve the lot of women.

He has also remained a key player in promoting peace and living together. Tabot has established a tradition of always incorporating the Muslim minority in Kumba in several national celebrations and Islamic celebrations. The MP also has several interventions in the domain of health and sports to his credit among others.
