The Cameroon–European Union Business Week, a major economic event aimed at wooing more investors to Cameroon, is ongoing at the International Exhibition for Business, SMEs and Partnerships, PROMOTE.

The business week, which runs from June 16 to 19, 2026, is organised by the European Union and its Member States, united under Team Europe.

The hybrid event that is in its second edition has brought together public authorities, international financial institutions and representatives of the private sector.

They are examining guarantee mechanisms, structural reforms and concrete solutions designed to channel capital towards the country’s key infrastructure projects under the Global Gateway strategy.

The Global Gateway strategy is the European Union’s initiative aimed at supporting sustainable investments that create value and jobs in key development sectors.

Going by the Head of EU Cooperation, Sebastien Dibling, the Cameroon–EU Business Week will open up economic dialogue between investors from Cameroon and the European Union.

“The first aim is to raise the profile of investment opportunities in Cameroon. We are here to highlight investment opportunities with the aim of attracting European funding and technology to support growth and employment in Cameroon,” he said, adding that “through Business Week, we are connecting European companies and European investors to invest in Cameroon”.

Besides dialoguing and listening to investment needs, the Head of EU Cooperation highlighted that throughout the four-day event, European investment and development banks, and European companies across the Euro village at PROMOTE will be ready to finance viable projects.

Four key themes including digital technology, energy, agribusiness as well as logistics and transport are under discussions at the Business week.

Dibling said the four themes on the spotlight reflect the role Europe can play in Cameroon.

“When you look at the Nachtigal dam, it is a technological marvel, a marvel of technology that supplies Cameroon with energy, and it is this type of project that we would like to see more of,” he mentioned.

Historic partnership

For the Programme Officer for the Private Sector and Value Chains at the EU, Jules Kembou, the Business Week is part of a long-standing and historic partnership between Cameroon and EU with economic and investment dimensions.

“It is a partnership that forms part of a dynamic following on from the Samoa Agreement, which prioritises infrastructure financing, but is also aligned with Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2030,” Kembou said.

He insisted that the partnership is not merely a theoretical institutional partnership but translates into investment and infrastructure within the framework of Cameroon’s inclusive and sustainable development.

Kembou acknowledged that digital technology, energy, agribusiness, and transport and logistics are key sectors that must contribute to the structural transformation of Cameroon’s economy.

“I think this is a relevant choice, a choice that is aligned, and a choice that meets essential needs to provide a kind of lever for development in relation to Cameroon’s public policy within the framework of economic development,” he added.

The Coordinator of the Cameroon-EU Partner Support Unit, Aliou Abdoullahi, opined that amongst the four principals at the Business Week, issues of business climate and access to finance are more cross-cutting.

He pointed that business climate is fundamental to the prosperity of the private sector.

“So, there will be a particular focus on the business climate. It will begin tomorrow, after the opening ceremony, we will move straight on to the investment climate panel to set the framework, to explain Cameroon’s attractiveness, and to highlight the reforms that need to be carried out to improve this attractiveness,” Aliou said on Monday.
