20 German companies participating at PROMOTE.

On the day the Fair kicked off, the Ambassador of Germany to Cameroon, Christian Sedat, told reporters that 20 German companies are participating.

He faced reporters in the presence of the head of the German Cooperation in Cameroon, Knut Gummert; the Resident Director of the Regional Bureau of the German Development Agency, the GIZ in Yaounde, Rico Langeheine and the Project Manager of Germany’s Leipzig Trade Fair, Irene Weidemann.

Sedat said the German Cooperation will PROMOTE to connect businesses, public decision-makers, investors, and innovators around concrete opportunities for sustainable economic development.

The diplomat stated that engagements with authorities resulted in the invitation of multiple German companies to the Fair. 

Sedat said German companies are making inspiring presentations to the public at PROMOTE. He expressed the view that Cameroon’s private sector can partner with that of his country to boost cooperation.

On the sidelines of exhibition, he said there will be the German-Cameroonian Business Development Forum on June 18.

The diplomat said the German Cooperation is convinced that through platforms like the planned panel discussions and forums, concrete partnerships can emerge.

Through platforms like the GIZ booth, Sedat said there is space for guidance and dialogue. The diplomat and his collaborators said such transformation aims to strengthen the transparency, standardisation, and efficiency of interactions with partners.

Enriching participation

Per the Cooperation whose activities are sanctioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, BMZ, its participation in the 2026 event will be marked by over four key events. These, officials said, will be organized in collaboration with Cameroonian and European partners.

One of the them, he German-Cameroonian Business for Development Forum, they said will be staged alongside the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT on Thursday June 18. 

Before Thursday’s forum, the Cooperation, it was said, will participate in the European Union Business Forum on Tuesday June 16 and Wednesday June 17. 

Officials told reporters that it is part of the European Business Week to promote Business-to-Business engagement between enterprises and government ministries.

The institution, it was also said, will hold a roundtable on skill migration. Reporters were told that it will feature multi-stakeholder discussions on talent mobility, circular migration, and win-win partnerships between companies, training institutions, and states.

Other activities

Other programmes, it was outlined, include an Artificial Intelligence, AI; and Health Hackathon in partnership with Mountain HUB in the form of an innovation marathon.

German Cooperation officials said it will group startups, developers, and experts around AI applied to propose concrete technological solutions to health system challenges.

Dedicated sessions on Business Process Outsourcing, BPO, and digital services with focus on showcasing Cameroon’s potential as a competitive regional hub for digital services is also on the menu, German officials said.

A carbon credits forum, they added, will be organized for exchange aimed at making carbon credit mechanisms accessible and operational for Cameroonian and European companies.

Going by officials, it will be organized in partnership with the Union of Cameroon Enterprises, GeCAM.
