Ntarinkon Credit Union emerges best microfinance institution again.

Meanwhile, the General Manager of NtaCCUL, Divine Ade Muma, was also singled out as the Most Innovative, Creative & Digitally Savvy General Manager of the Decade

The distinctions, which pundits say are well merited, were conferred on NtaCCUL and its General Manager on Saturday, May 30 in Yaounde, during the Decennial Trendsetters Award Night of one of Cameroon’s most authoritative English Language newspapers, The Voice.

According The Voice award jury, led by the National President of the Cameroon English-Language Newspaper Association, CENPA, who also doubles as Publisher of Cameroon’s English Language Daily Newspaper, Kristian Ngah Christian, NtaCCUL was found worthy of praise “for ten years of unprecedented excellence and institutional stability in a competitive financial market”. The jury also noted that “NtaCCUL has emerged as a titan, distinguished by its robust financial records and a culture of transparency that inspires absolute trust”. 

It added that the award “specifically recognises NtaCCUL’s ‘member-first’ philosophy, headlined by a staggering 6% interest rate on savings – a figure that stands as a testament to the institution’s profitability and its commitment to rewarding the loyalty of its members”.

“By merging mouthwatering services with the rock-solid reliability, NtaCCUL has redefined the standard for cooperative banking in Cameroon,” the jury noted.

Conversely, the NtaCCUL General Manager, Divine Ade Muma, the jury stated, was awarded in appreciation for his “best-in-class management” … “positioning the credit union as the most enterprising financial cooperative within the CEMAC sub-region”.

The jury also averred that under Ade Muma’s “performant stewardship, NtaCCUL has achieved a level of institutional growth and stability that serves as a benchmark for the industry”. 

It also added that the award “celebrates a General Manager whose excellence in governance has turned a local vision into a regional success story”.

NtaCCUL features among best Credit Unions in Africa

Speaking to the press after receiving the award during the crowd-pulling award ceremony, the General Manager, Divine Ade Muma, first disclosed that NtaCCUL has been rated among the best Credit Unions in Africa by the Confederation of African Credit Unions.

Ade Muma told journalists that NtaCCUL is aiming to be at the top of all Credit Unions in Africa, especially with the robust digitalisation system that has been put in place. 

He said with a membership that is above 120,000 and keeps growing, a lot of queues are noticed in all their branches. But to prevent too much queues, NtaCCUL has digitalised so much so that people can to stay in the comfort of their homes or office and do transactions without necessarily going to any of the branches. 

“All our branches have been installed with ATM machines that clients of NtaCCUL can deposit money even in the night,” he said. 

Speaking about NtaCCUL 7th position amongst the best Credit Unions in Africa, Ade Muma said “the biggest credit union in Africa has about 400,000 members and we are looking forward to beat that record in just a short time”.  

He said as part of their digitalisation process, the first consignment of the GIMAC cards is already available and members are already applying to have theirs. 

“In the days ahead, we shall be launching the cards and members can start applying for them,” the GM said, while brandishing his. 

While NtaCCUL has implanted itself in many parts of the country, with the most recent being a branch in Adamawa Region, Ade Muma said the Credit Union is looking forward to expanding to other Regions of the country, especially the South, North and Far North. 

“We are already studying the situation and in five years NtaCCUL will cover all the 10 Regions of Cameroon,” he said. 

Board of Directors salutes public for believing in NtaCCUL

On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Vice President, Fru Doris Ade, who walked up the podium to receive the award on behalf of Management and the Board, praised the public for believing in NtaCCUL. 

She also said the award is the result of hard work vertically and horizontally by the staff, management and the Board. Though not being the only award that NtaCCUL has received, Fru Doris encouraged the staff, management and other stakeholders of NtaCCUL to push further, especially in the competitive microfinance sector. 

Fru Doris assured the clients of NtaCCUL that with the award, they are not going to rest on their laurels, but to work harder and maintain the top position in the CEMAC region and why not in Africa.  

The vice president of the BoD, while dedicating the award to all the members, the staff, management and Board of NtaCCUL, also thanked them for all the efforts they have been making to ensure that Ntarinkon Credit Union remains unbeaten. 

6% interest on savings highest in sector

NTaCCUL, it should be noted, has also continued its stand of being the only microfinance institution in the CEMAC sub region which pays 6% interest on savings, which is the highest in the sector. 

It also charges the lowest interest on loans. The credit union has been hailed for this feat. Experts in the microfinance sector have indicated that more people save in NtaCCUL because of the juicy 6% interest on savings. 

Divine Ade Muma’s brilliant stewardship of NtaCCUL

Pundits have noted, and rightly so, that Divine Ade Muma’s stewardship of NtaCCUL has taken the Credit Union to greater heights. 

It is therefore no surprise that he has earned several personal awards and counting because of his innovative ideas at NtaCCUL. No doubt, analysts say, the financial institution has been rated best in the CEMAC region and 7th in Africa. 

With his long experience and knowledge having been trained in financial management in the United Kingdom, Divine Ade Muma has moved NtaCCUL to another level with over 15 branches across Cameroon. He has helped in digitalising the credit union, which today is the only credit union that pays 6% interest on members’ savings.
