Mbonge credit union rewards manager for exceptional service to institution.

Board president, Barrister Okole Michael Sakwe, handing over certificate to the manager

The Board of Directors of Mbonge Cooperative Credit Union, led by its president, Barrister Okole Michael Sakwe, has awarded a certificate of recognition to the institution’s longest-serving manager, Mosina James, alias "Mbenge Man".

The recognition is for his priceless service rendered to the institution.

The certificate was handed to him Friday, May 1, 2026. This was on the sideline of the celebration of the 140th edition of the International Labour Day.

Addressing the august gathering, the President of the Board, Barrister Okole Michael Sakwe, said he was pleased with the work that has been done so far by the management team, led by its manager.

He said the Board thought it wise to award to Mosina James a certificate of recognition and a small financial package on Labour Day, to better encourage him to continue to do more for the growth of the union.

Barrister Okole Michael also reminded other staff that they too will benefit from such recognition in the days ahead as the Board is currently watching their output discretely.

While wishing them a wonderful celebration, the president also used the occasion to reach out to members who are said to have abandoned their accounts due to the socio-political crisis, to come back because normalcy has returned and the credit union can better accompany them to rebuild their villages, businesses and other activities.

Accepting the award, the manager, Mosina James, thanked the Board for thinking of him on Labour Day. He promised to redouble his efforts for more meaningful development and progress of the credit union.

The manager also dedicated the award to the entire staff members of the credit union for their selfless sacrifice and to the population.

He promised some innovations ahead of the start of the second half of the year which, he said, will benefit members. Mosina reminded the population that Mbonge Cooperative Credit Union is not for Mbonge people alone because people of all works of life and people from other areas of the country are affiliated there.

Created in 2010 as Mbonge Community Credit Union under the then leadership of Justice Bea Abednego Kalla, the credit union got affiliated to Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League, CAMCCUL, and with the Ministry of Finance in 2014 and has a membership of over 1,248 and an annual turnover of over 500 million FCFA.

Because the credit union was able to weather the storm during the crisis and stay in business it has received three different distinctions from the apex organ of the union, CAMCUL.

It is located in Mbonge Road, Kumba and with branches spread across Meme Division of the South West Region.
