Commercial banking institution, CCA Bank, has strengthened its support to local entrepreneurship and the transport sector through the leasing of 15 brand-new buses to inter-urban travel agency, Al Barka Line Express.

The buses were officially handed over on April 30 at the headquarters of CFAO Mobility in Bonaberi, Douala.

It was in the presence of officials of the bank, transport company executives and partners.

The buses, acquired under a leasing arrangement, are expected to reinforce inter-urban transport services, notably on the Douala-Yaounde corridor and other destinations across the country.

Officials of CCA Bank described the initiative as a symbol of a long-standing partnership between the financial institution and Al Barka Line Express, noting that the collaboration has now reached a major milestone. Under the agreement, the transport agency will reimburse the financing over a period of 36 months.

Speaking during the ceremony, officials of the bank said Al Barka Line made the right financial choice by opting for leasing through CCA Bank to finance the acquisition of the buses.

They congratulated the Director General of the transport company for his vision, courage and entrepreneurial spirit, while reaffirming the commitment of the bank to continue supporting business operators in Cameroon.

Director General of Al Barka Line Express, Aladji Awal Mohamed, expressed gratitude to God, CCA Bank and CFAO Mobility for making the project a reality.

According to him, the acquisition of the 15 buses with 56-seat capacity each represents a major turning point in the expansion of the company’s operations.

“This is a great day for me. I thank God and sincerely appreciate the confidence placed in me by CCA Bank and our long-time partners at CFAO,” he stated.

The transport operator disclosed that his company currently runs nearly 25 buses, which, he said, are no longer sufficient to meet increasing passenger demand.

He explained that the newly acquired fleet will enable the company to strengthen operations on the Douala-Yaounde VIP route, in addition to existing services towards the West Region.

Aladji Awal Mohamed also paid tribute to his employees, especially drivers, whom he described as professional and committed workers who have contributed to the steady growth of the enterprise in just over a year of operation. He further praised the confidence and rapid response of CCA Bank in facilitating the transaction.

“It is first of all about trust. We have worked together for a long time without problems. What could normally take several months was concluded within one month,” he said.

Supporting enterprises with vision, integrity

The official in charge of Leasing at CCA Bank, Bapa Ba Boumtje, said the institution is committed to supporting entrepreneurs with vision and integrity.

“CCA accompanies people with vision. Financing 15 buses is not just about buses. It is about the jobs created behind the project and the contribution to national development,” he explained.

He added that the bank’s leasing department has been created to support enterprises operating in various sectors and not only transport. According to him, leasing allows companies to operate equipment over a defined period before eventually becoming owners.

“It was not only the project we financed, but also the man behind the project. Mr Awal is a self-made entrepreneur with vision and we decided to accompany him in this ambition,” he added.

Speaking on the quality of the vehicles supplied, Brand Manager for 'King Long buses' at CFAO Mobility, Ignatius Mbah, said the buses were specifically adapted to withstand road conditions in Cameroon.

“These buses were tropicalised and designed according to the realities of our roads. We carried out studies before introducing them and so far, we have received no negative feedback,” he stated.

He assured clients of continuous technical support, maintenance services and professional follow-up from CFAO Mobility. Ignatius Mbah further noted that CFAO Mobility has been operating in Cameroon for over five decades and continues to expand its footprint in the automobile and heavy-duty equipment sectors.
