The Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the leading telecommunication company in the country, MTN Cameroon, Mitwa Ng’ambi has pledged the company’s support in fostering the country’s digital economy.
Mitwa Ng’ambi who doubles as the President of the Association of Mobile Telephone Operators made the pledge Wednesday, January 18.
She was speaking during a ceremony to present New Year wishes to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, MINPOSTEL, Minette Libom Li Likeng.
The ceremony at the ministry’s esplanade brought together staff as well as stakeholders involved in the telecommunication sector.
The MTN Cameroon CEO was accompanied to the ceremony by a host of her collaborators.
“We spent a lovely afternoon at the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication and on behalf of the entire telecom association that is made up of MTN, CAMTEL and Orange and also on my behalf as the President of the Association of Mobile Telephone Operators…we came to wish the minister, her cabinet and staff a very successful new year 2023,” she told reporters shortly after the ceremony.
“As an association we are extremely clear on the vision and mandate of the minister and we pledge our commitment in order to drive the digital economy of Cameroon to another level as we play a very active part,” Mitwa added.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Libom Li Likeng presented her heartfelt admiration to her collaborators for the warm and best wishes addressed to her humble person. She said the journey covered has been tough but there are hopes for new horizons.
“A future that we hope will be better, thanks to the new commitment to be made, which will enable us to achieve the targeted objectives and to progress in the fulfillment of the noble missions assigned to our sector,” Minister Libom Li Likeng said.
The member of government said the commitments made by the scribe of the ministry are undeniably a sign of the willingness of all officials of central and external services, and those of structures under supervisory authority of the ministry to work in synergy for the digital transformation of the country which is strongly advocated by the Head of State.
She went on to thank all stakeholders of the posts, telecommunications and ICT sector for their collaboration throughout 2022.
The ceremony equally served as an opportunity for Minister Libom Li Likeng to award labour medals to her close collaborators and staff for their meritorious services rendered to the nation.
