Meet Merilyne Ojong: Communications expert strengthening NGOs, diplomatic missions’ impact in Central Africa.

Merilyne Ojong: A communication expert of her own class

Cameroonian communication expert and entrepreneur, Merilyne Ojong, is emerging as a key actor in strategic communication for social impact.

This is at a time when development organisations and diplomatic missions face growing pressure to demonstrate measurable results and secure international funding.

The graduate of the International Relations Institute of Cameroon, IRIC, has founded a communication firm, Lacquer Communications.

As founder and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Ojong is advancing a vision that places communication at the heart of sustainable development and community transformation across central Africa.
Operating across the sub- region, Lacquer Communications supports local and international organisations through capacity building, media relations, visibility strategies, event planning and institutional communication services.

According to her, the agency helps organisations structure their messaging, highlight tangible results and strengthen their credibility with technical and financial partners. The approach, she added, contributes to attracting international funding, which is essential for implementing impactful pro- jects that directly benefit com- munities.

“Lacquer Communications stands out for its humane and context-driven approach. The agency emphasizes local realities and promotes solutions developed within communities them- selves,” he affirmed.

Showcasing income generating initiatives

Her Lacquer Communications equally contributes actively to showcasing income-generating initiatives that foster economic empowerment, particularly for youth, women and local entrepreneurs.

By helping organisations communicate their impact more effectively, Lacquer indirectly supports the creation of sustainable economic opportunities across several central African countries.

“For Cameroon, this initiative carries significant strategic value. By positioning the country as a hub of expertise in communication for development, Lacquer enhances the international visibility of locally led pro- jects,” she added.

The agency also contributes to the professionalisation of the communications sector by building local talent and encouraging innovation.

A vision of communication for public good

Beyond technical support, Merilyne Ojong promotes a vision where communication serves the public good. Through her expertise, she encourages organisations to tell authentic stories, demonstrate concrete results and highlight the real impact of their work on communities.

The approach helps strengthen the confidence of international partners in projects implemented in Cameroon and across the region. In a global environment mar- ked by intense competition for funding and visibility, the Cameroonian expertise personified by Lacquer Communications represents a strong lever for economic growth and social development.

In addition, the agency is steadily establishing itself as a key player in the entrepreneurial and development landscape of central Africa by facilitating access to resources, supporting job creation and promoting local initiatives.

Ojong’s initiative, many believe, demonstrates that locally driven expertise can play a transformative role in strengthening communities while contributing to Cameroon’s economic growth and international influence.
