The Investment Promotion Agency, IPA, has marketed Cameroon’s huge economic potential and opportunities to a visiting trade delegation from Thailand.

This was during the maiden edition of the Thailand-Cameroon Business Matching Forum, in Yaounde on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

The business matchmaking forum was organised by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts, CCIMC.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, the aim of the business forum was to connect Thailand companies in agro-food, security and machinery with Cameroonian companies and entrepreneurs.

During the gathering, the IPA team, led by Tamungang Emmanuel, who is Director of Investment Promotion, representing the Interim General Manager, Boma Donatus, seized the opportunity to unveil Cameroon’s investment potentials.

Tamungang told the Thailand trade delegation that the IPA is the one-stop shop for business, and investments in Cameroon.

He also mentioned that the IPA was the entry point for foreign investors or businessmen “who wish to know more about Cameroon as an investment destination”.

He said the IPA is tasked to receive, orientate, and present all the necessary information on the business opportunities in Cameroon and to connect them with the various stakeholders who might fall within their area of interest.

“…when you decide to invest in Cameroon, we are that one-stop shop that gives you incentives that could exempt you from taxes, customs and any other advantages to ease your business,” Tamungang said.

He said the IPA has a data bank of local businessmen and foreign businessmen from various countries which they try to connect to ensure that they have interest in Cameroon

According to Tamungang, the IPA is the link between the government and the private sector. He said they advise the government through policy advocacy activity on key measures that could be done to improve Cameroon's business environment.

 “Come to Cameroon now”

Tamungang hailed organisers for the organisation of the Business Matching Forum which he stressed will reinforce cooperation between Thailand and Cameroon.

He said Cameroon has a lot of opportunities for the Thailand delegation for business.

Tamungang stressed that Cameroon offers a lot of opportunities for business and more precisely for South-South cooperation, for those countries that are currently in the industry and who want to penetrate Central Africa, West Africa, and by extension the entire continent.

“We all know that we are currently ongoing with implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area, and we can accept without any reflection that Africa is the future of the world,” Tamungang said.

The IPA offfcial added that: “If you want to have a position in the world, get to Africa now. And if you want to get to Africa, come to Cameroon now. Why Cameroon? Because geographically we have a very strategic position. We are linked between Central Africa and West Africa”.

Tamungang said Cameroon shares a boundary of over 1,700 kilometres squared with the continent’s leading economy Nigeria, and are the access point to the entire Central African Economic and Monetary Community, CEMAC region, and extending right down to the Central African Economic Community, ACAS.

“…You see that just through Cameroon, you can access at least a 500 to 600 million market for your products. Besides that, Cameroon is a growing economy with very impressive infrastructures. We have a deep seaport. We have a very powerful port in Douala. We have international airlines. We have railway and road infrastructure projects ongoing right now in the continent,” Tamungang added.

According to Tamungang, Cameroon’s bilingual nature, its stable currency and political will to ensure that businesses go on very well in the country is an added advantage for investors.

Support of IPA…

Tamungang reassured the Thailand delegation of the commitment of the IPA to accompany them at every level from the moment you decide to do business in Cameroon.

He also announced that the IPA “shall be very interested to attend trade missions to Thailand and even invite delegations to interesting activities we have in Cameroon”.

He cited the Yaounde International Trade Fair for Businesses, SMEs and Partnerships, PROMOTE, scheduled to take place in June and the Cameroon Investment Forum, which is the biggest investment forum in Central Africa, to be held from November 18 to 20.
