Dr Chi Asafor mobilises bilingualism commission staff to boost performance.

SG alongside NCPBM general secretariat staff agreeing on 2026 blueprint

The Secretary General, SG, of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism, NCPBM, Dr Chi Asafor Cornelius, has mobilised workers of the general secretariat of the institution to up performance.



This was the focus of the second annual conference of staff of the general secretariat of the NCPBM organised in Yaounde on Saturday, January 31.  Dr Chi Asafor guided exchanges and orientations during the gathering.

He told staff that there will be no limit to what they can achieve in 2026 if they work to improve services rendered to the public through pragmatism. 

The SG said the rendezvous was to review if the staff functioned in line with the action plan of the commission in 2025 and ensure the respect of rules and regulations guiding the NCPBM.

He stated that after a while, it is imperative “to know whether all your collaborators are working in consonance with the rules and regulations governing the institution”. 

Dr Chi Asafor also added that there is always need to “…ensure that they understand the missions and attributions of the institution as contained in the legal instrument creating and organising”.

Going by him, it is also vital to pay attention to efficient and effective performance in services rendered. Beyond that, he assured Cameroonians that this year, the Commission would go beyond the 90 percent score to hit 100 percent execution of what constitutes the NCPBM’s action plan.

Dr Chi Asafor was specific that more work will be done, “in terms of promoting bilingualism and living together, promoting the fight against hate speech for a more peaceful Cameroon, for hitch free elections”, and “to bring our contribution to the peace of the nation”.

The Commission’s scribe assured that despite a noticeable hike in hate speech, “…we are going to do more than we did last year”. 

He added that in terms of the fight against hate speech, “we are going to put in more efforts, we are going to better sharpen our strategies so as to bring down the heat that is trying to overcome the peace that is supposed to reign in this beautiful country of ours”.

Giving the upcoming legislative and municipal elections, Dr Chi Asafor reiterated the importance of the NCPBM’s work with other stakeholders. 

He stated that work will continue with the 14 Civil Society Organisations, CSO’s which the Commission has been partnering with.

According to Dr Chi Asafor, such a collaborative platform is needed to further take the message of the commission in line with its assigned missions to every corner of Cameroon.
