The Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie, has ordered free medical treatment of former presenter of Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV, Foly Dirane.

The development follows concern about his health condition.

The decision is said to have been made after the minister was officially informed of the situation of the iconic television personality, widely known for hosting the popular programme, Délire.

In a statement released recently, the Ministry of Public Health clarified that contrary to circulating rumours, the 68-year-old animator is not in a critical state.

Health authorities stressed that while his condition required urgent attention, he remains stable and is under close medical supervision.

The minister, in the note, instructed that immediate measures be taken to ensure that Foly Dirane receives appropriate and timely medical care.

A medical ambulance is said to have been immediately mobilised which transported him to a suitable health facility for specialised treatment.

The minister further directed that all medical expenses related to his care be fully covered by the state at the Yaounde General Hospital.

The decision, he said, allows medical teams to focus entirely on stabilising the patient and closely monitoring his recovery process without financial constraints.

The minister in the statement described the media figure as a man who has contributed greatly to the country’s television and cultural landscape.

Dr Manaouda in the statement expressed solidarity with Foly Dirane, his family, and his loved ones during this difficult period.

He wished the former television star a speedy and complete recovery and reassured the public that the government is giving the situation special attention.

Doctors in charge of Foly Dirane’s treatment are said to have confirmed that his condition is currently stable and that he is responding positively to the care being administered.

Continuous monitoring, the medics are said to have noted have been put in place to prevent any complications and to ensure optimal recovery.

The gesture by the member of government has been widely welcomed by the public, with many praising the minister’s swift intervention and highlighting the importance of supporting figures who have shaped the nation’s media and cultural history when they are alive.
