Members of the one of Cameroon’s fastest-growing microfinance institutions, Mmockmbie Cooperative Credit Union, MmoCCUL, have rolled out a strategic action plan which seeks to consolidate the institution’s leading role in the sector.

The ambitious plan was unveiled during the microfinance institution’s Annual General Assembly, AGM, held Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the town of Dschang, Menoua Division of the West Region.

Attended by hundreds of members of the credit union, management of the financial institution, used the Dschang meeting to count the achievements of the institution, naming them one by one.

Notably among the strides is the multi-million imposing operational head office of the credit union which is nearing completion at the Yaounde-Damas neighborhood.

The General Manager of MmoCCUL, Ngezem Fortsomo Skyly, who spoke at length at the Dschang meeting, described the gathering as crucial.

Ngezem disclosed that the AGM came few months to the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the credit union slated for July this year.

Reflecting on the year just ended, Ngezem recalled that a milestone was covered. The General Manager noted that: “Once again, we paid interest at 5%. I am glad to say that the highest person received 8.7 million FCFA”.

We are expanding…

Announcing future projects, MmoCCUL General Manager disclosed the credit union will this year create, two new branches.

“Our Damas branch in Yaounde, which will be third in the city and the Kribi branch will go operational this year,” he announced.

He further disclosed that: “Our Damas branch is going to be operational in the month of March and Kribi in the month of April. We are planning to get into Limbe and of course, we have plans to move towards the northern regions. Our mission is that by 2030, we should be all regions in Cameroon”.

Speaking further, Ngezem rejoiced that: “Most of our members are now using our digital platform, be it the mobile App or the USSD. With the USSD…we want to be a financially inclusive microfinance institution where even those who have non-smart phones can withdraw or save money directly into their accounts”.

He said during the year “we are going to work tirelessly to ensure that we implement our GIMAC card…we will now have two cards; the Visa card and the GIMAC card. The GIMAC card facilitates financial transaction and business operation within the CEMAC zone. It is acceptable in all financial institutions within the CEMAC zone. We will be having an e-bank code meaning that we can even do transactions internationally”.

Ngezem continued that: “This year, we are more determined. We want to satisfy our members much better than the previous years. We are glad to know that from our own analysis, we remain the fastest growing microfinance institution in Cameroon. it is visible on our balance sheet. We were able to clock a 6.6 billion FCFA balance sheet. We grew by about 2 billion FCFA. When you look at the growth rate, it is about 42% which is mega”.

Our members, our priority

Ngezem Skyly explained that MmoCCUL is the property of its members.

He said the credit union is a member-owned microfinance institution “that is why during this session, you saw members voting into office a new board of directors and new supervisory members”.

Turning to something else, Ngezem said MmoCCUL now pays civil servants through the credit union’s salary code.

“So, we encourage state workers to get their salaries paid through us. We are happy to announce that the Damas branch has already been baptized ‘the civil servant’ branch just to let you know how important civil servants are to us,” he stated.

Steady growth in membership

MmoCCUL now counts a membership of over 13,000. Ngezem said “Just in 2025, we created, 3,940 accounts. We are referring to those who created and paid shares. I think this is one of the highest in Cameroon. among these members, we have a good number from the diaspora because they have an App which permits them to run their accounts from the diaspora. The mobile App is very user-friendly”.

He announced that: “This year, we are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary. it is going to be a triple event. We will be inaugurating our most valued Damas operational headquarters in Yaounde. We will be launching the Union clothe…it is going to be a come and see ceremony”.

“We plan to celebrate the anniversary in the month of July. Of course, during that event, some of our staff will be decorated with labour medals,” he added.
