The Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, MINPMEESA, Achille Bassilekin III, and the recently appointed Managing Director of MSMI Africa SA, Alain Blaise Batongue, have discussed potential cooperation opportunities between MINPMEESA and MSMI, to boost industrial development in the country.

MSMI is a company specialised in industrial maintenance and manufacturing. The discussion was during an audience Minister Bassilekin III granted Blaise Batongue recently in Yaounde. Also present at the meeting was the founder of MSMI, Ngo Yetna Augustine.

Discussions during the meeting focused on identifying possible areas of partnership to support local industrial development. These include the training of young engineers, promotion of entrepreneurship, and initiatives aimed at strengthening the participation of women in industrial fields traditionally considered male-dominated. MSMI’s founder, it was revealed, is also involved in training activities through her role at the Industrial Engineering Faculty incubator in Douala.

According to information shared during the meeting, both MINPMEESA and MSMI intend to work together on practical actions designed to contribute to industrialisation, skills transfer and job creation.

The collaboration is expected to align with national policies on small and medium-sized enterprises and the social economy, while supporting the development of local industrial capacity.

Since its creation in 2003, the company has grown into a major actor in industrial maintenance and mechanical manufacturing in Cameroon. In 2025, MSMI was valued at more than 7.5 billion FCFA.

The company currently employs about 100 workers and has announced plans to increase its workforce to 300 in the medium term.

MSMI operates across several strategic sectors of the economy, including heavy industry, textiles, agribusiness, oil-related services, naval activities and mechanical engineering.

The company is a partner to transformation industries, railway operators and agro-industrial units. Its core areas of expertise include mechanical welding, industrial maintenance and the manufacture of industrial equipment.
