Some 70 staff members of the Bafoussam Regional Hospital have been honoured for their commitment, dedication and loyalty in serving the public.

This was during the celebration of the first edition of the hospital’s Day of Excellence.



The ceremony took place January 16 at the esplanade of the hospital in Kouekong, Bafoussam, Mifi Division of the West Region.

It was presided by the Governor of the West Region, Awa Fonka Augustine. He was accompanied by the West Regional Delegate of Public Health, Dr Patrick Tchatchoua Kamleu.

 Also present were; the Director of the Bafoussam Regional Hospital, Dr Saibou Ouassouo Passang, the President of the West Regional Council, Dr Jules Hilaire Foka Foka, alongside administrative authorities, health partners and staff of the institution.

According to hospital officials, the ceremony was organised to recognise and reward personnel who have contributed significantly to improve the quality of healthcare services.

Authorities used the event to underline the importance of valuing human resources as a key pillar in strengthening the healthcare system and ensuring continuous improvement in service delivery. 

A total of 70 staff members were decorated for their years of loyal service. Over 20 others were singled out for their outstanding performance throughout 2025.

Governor Awa Fonka blessing new Type C ambulance

Those who were honoured included; Medical, paramedical and support staff.

West Region Governor, Awa Fonka,  congratulated the awardees and praised the leadership of the hospital. He noted that the Bafoussam Regional Hospital has established itself as a benchmark health institution, not only in the West Region but also at national and sub-regional levels. 

He encouraged the Director, Dr Saibou Ouassouo Passang, and his team to maintain the same level of dedication, professionalism and determination in serving the population.

Dr Saibou on his part expressed gratitude to the government and partners for their continued support to the health facility. He reaffirmed his commitment to improve the work conditions of staff and the quality of care offered to patients. 

He described the Day of Excellence as a motivational platform aimed at fostering a culture of merit, excellence and accountability within the institution.

The ceremony concluded with the putting to use of a new Type C ambulance donated by the Ministry of Public Health to the facility.
