Students of prestigious globally acclaimed Yaounde-based learning institution, Enko La Gaiete International, have been urged to explore good career opportunities.

The appeal was made Saturday, January 10. This was during the maiden edition of the Enko Education Fair organised by the school.

The crowd-pulling event took place on the imposing campus of Enko La Gaiete International, across the Parcours Vita in Yaounde.

It brought together students, parents and representatives of several universities like the University of Wales, St Louis International Study Center, and the University of Portsmouth. Also present were officials of programmes and training platforms.

The Director of Enko La Gaiete, Achraf Amidou, revealed that the goal of the career and education fair was to elevate the school’s visibility.

He added that it was also an occasion to highlight the academic excellence of Enko La Gaiete International and provide students with insights into studying in universities in the United States of America, USA.

The Enko career and education fair, we gathered, was also an occasion to provide guidance for students, parents and schools.

Students, parents and other invitees took part in several breakout sessions with renowned professionals and experts.

The experts were in the fields of law, education, medicine, public diplomacy, finance, project management, and arts and humanity among others.

“When I first joined this school, I noticed that there was a lack of visibility on the school and on its practices. (…) How can we have such an amazing building, school and programme and people are not aware about us,” Achraf told reporters.

Achraf said he believes the Fair will mark a turning point for students in their pursuit for better education and a brighter future. He said it was a great opportunity for them to learn, explore, and exchange with experts.

He urged students to explore opportunities “…because these opportunities are not going to be there every time”.

Students hail school for initiative

Students who attended the Enko career and education fair rained praises on Enko La Gaiete International for what they described as an innovative idea.

The President of the student union government, Manga Aleokol Eric, said the exercise helped students to “know our path for university, an opportunity to open our school to the world and to show how hardworking and responsible we are concerning our future”.

Thanks to the experience from the Fair, he said students are more focused on their targets.

“For us Grade A students who are going to be in our final year next year, it is really important for us to know which university we are going to choose and how we are going to go there,” Manga said.

Another student, Smiley Sone, described it as one of the greatest career fairs that he has attended.

“The execution was very meticulous. There are multiple stands. Each stand is very dedicated and they have assigned professionals to each stand which means that students get direct guidance from experts,” Sone revealed.

He said the speeches made by the various personalities were extremely instructive. Sone said he learnt a lot about not only the American Embassy and universities but also how the system works.
