Yango Cameroon honours outstanding drivers, fleet partners.

Yango officials, drivers & partners immortalise awards ceremony

Yango Ride, part of Yango Group, an international tech company has celebrated the excellence, resilience, and professionalism of its drivers and partners within its growing mobility ecosystem in Cameroon.

This was during the maiden edition of awards ceremony organized by officials of the app-based urban mobility company. It held Friday, January 9, in Bonanjo, Douala.

Yango’s top-performing drivers, fleet partners, city managers, government representatives, media professionals, and digital influencers from across the country, graced the event.

Yango Cameroon officials said the event marked a significant milestone in the company’s operations in the country, spotlighting the human capital driving the success of the company.

In his remarks, the Country Manager of Yango Cameroon, Dr Pilla Clovis, described the event as a strategic initiative to promote best practices and professional standards within the sector.

He said Yango is looking at appreciating its partner drivers and fleet operators who distinguished themselves throughout 2025 despite operational, infrastructural, and environmental challenges.

“This is an event that values excellence and best practices in our activity,” Dr Pilla stated, noting that Yango drivers “remain the most important actors” of the company.

“Their professionalism, discipline, respect for passengers and adherence to good practices define the quality of our service,” Dr Pilla added.

He said Yango’s model in Cameroon is anchored on partnerships rather than direct transport operations.

“We are not a transport company. We operate through local transport partners and fleet operators. This ceremony is also about appreciating our partners who bring value to all stakeholders,” he noted.

The Country Manager, also used the event to acknowledge the support of State authorities, particularly the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, for enabling a conducive regulatory and digital environment.

Dr Pilla said the support was a great boost to the success of the company, especially in obtaining of operations license.

Yango Cameroon, he said, currently operates under a five-year licence granted by the Ministry of Transport, allowing it to legally provide ride-hailing services in Cameroon’s major cities.

Going by Dr Pilla, the regulatory clarity is key to improving compliance, reducing hitherto harassment on the field, and professionalizing urban transport.

15 best drivers honoured across three cities

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of 15 top-performing drivers from Douala, Yaounde and Bafoussam.

The winners, Yango officials revealed, were selected based on performance indicators including number of completed trips, service consistency, customer ratings gotten from feedback, professionalism, and compliance with platform standards.

In the City of Douala, six drivers were honoured, with Dieupe Niyeug Ruben Ismael emerging as best driver for the year 2025.

In Yaounde, six drivers were also awarded, with Tchoffo Nossi clinching the title of best driver for the year 2025.

Meanwhile, in the Chief town of the West Region, Bafoussam, three drivers were recognised, with Tchaupga Yombeu Ebenezer named best driver for the year 2025.

The drivers were handed trophies, smartphones, fuel vouchers, engine oil change vouchers, and branded Yango merchandise.

In addition to maiden annual awards, Yango organised a special December challenge. Its officials said the competition aimed to encourage drivers to complete a high number of rides within a defined period.

Two drivers emerged winners, each receiving an all-inclusive weekend getaway in Kribi, covering accommodation, meals, city tours, and fuel support.

One of the winners, Eboumbou Monny Gustave, resident in Doualadescribed the prize as a motivating surprise.

“The challenge was not easy, but this reward is a special distinction. It encourages us to work harder and believe in what we do,” he said.

Fleet partners recognised for growth, excellence

Aside the drivers, the ceremony also celebrated five outstanding fleet partners for their contribution to sector growth, fleet quality, and operational professionalism.

Those honoured were; YFLEET, Smart Express, BestFleet Auto, BloomMove Empire. All five received trophies, while two top fleet partners of the year were awarded a seven-day immersive learning trip to Yango Group’s regional headquarters in Abidjan.

Yango Cameroon officials noted that the trip will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and exposure to advanced fleet management systems.

After receiving his award as Best Yango Partner Cameroon, Thierry Nlondok II, Managing Director of YFLEET Cameroon, described the recognition as both an honour and a responsibility.

“This is a feeling of partial accomplishment, but also a call to greater responsibility. The success we celebrate today is the result of teamwork, both internally and externally. This motivates us to aim higher in the coming years,” he said.

Another awardee, Kuate Warbo, co-founder of Smart Express, highlighted the socio-economic impact of the business.

“This activity creates opportunities. Many drivers can now feed their families, build projects, even get married. Yango has proven to be a serious and reliable partner,” he said.

Several drivers used the platform to share testimonies on how the Yango ecosystem has transformed their livelihoods.

One of them, Tchoffo Nossi, Best Driver Yaounde 2025, said consistency and discipline were key to his success.

“I took this activity seriously, even when it started as a side job. Today, it has helped me build a financial base and implement personal projects. My advice to drivers is to stay focused and professional—the rewards will come,” he said.

Through the award ceremony, Yango Cameroon has reaffirmed its commitment to rewarding performance, encouraging professionalism, and supporting sustainable growth within Cameroon’s mobility sector.
