The Paramount Ruler of Buea, Chief Dr Robert Esuka Endeley, has received a huge boost for his vision of reviving the

These two projects were some of the key items on the agenda that he presented to his people during his coronation.

The huge donation of more than 7 million FCFA for the ‘Mbando’ and the Fako multipurpose cultural centre was donated by Bakweri Elements Cultural and Development Association, BECDA-USA/NA. The donation, according to members of the association, is a demonstration of their love and support to the vision of reviving the spirit of unity and educating Bakweri sons, daughters and friends of the Bakweri people on their culture and traditions.

Addressing the population that turned out to witness the donation of the funds to boost the Paramount Chief’s vision, Nathaniel Mosaso, Secretary General of the Board of Directors of BECDA-USA/NA, thanked the chief for his love and commitment in building his community. He said the chief’s vision will help promote and preserve their culture.

“We thank Naliomo very much for the love that he has for his people and the several sacrifices that he is making to build our communities. The project initiated by Naliomo will have a lasting impact in sustaining our mission to promote and preserve our culture as well as promote community development,” Mosaso said.

Speaking to the press after the donation exercise, Mosaso said the project will have a lasting impact on his people, thus reassuring the Paramount Chief of their continued support for the project.

“This is a very important project that will have a lasting impact on the Fako people in general and the Bakweris in particular. We look forward to supporting every aspect of this project,” he said.

On his part, the Paramount Ruler, Chief Dr Endeley, called on his people to unite as what unites them is more than what divides them. With unity, he said the Bakweri people will be the first and not the last in any situation.

The ‘Mbando’ and Fako cultural centre, the paramount chief, said will be a platform for all sons and daughters of Fako to unite and bond together as their forefathers did in the yesteryears.

“Mbando is something our forefathers had done a long time ago, but at a point the tradition lost itself, so my goal is to rekindle that culture, because it’s a unifying bond and an opportunity where all of us come together to take an oath of togetherness as a people and to teach our culture to our children,” he said.

To demonstrate his message of unity, Chief Dr Endeley said he will be working with all chiefs in Fako as well as sons and daughters with the representation of all.

The ‘Mbando’, the chief said, will not just be a cultural event, but a movement and organisation where a data bank of Bakweri children and their qualification will be kept, so that if there are opportunities, they can tap from it.

The donation was also witnessed by the Paramount Chief of Limbe, Chiefs of Upper Muea, Bomboko and traditional rulers from other villages.

The Bakweri Elements Cultural and Development Association was created in July 2017, in Tampa, Florida, USA. It is a registered not-for-profit organisation with the mission to preserve and promote the welfare and culture of our people, educate the world about the Bakweri culture, nurture a Bakweri family community, and promote personal and community development.
