2025 presidentials: URNA party aspirant unveils vision, drums massive registration.

Felix Lingom, URNA President speaking during presser

The President of the Union for the Realisation of African Necessity, URNA, Felix Lingom, who intends to compete in the October presidential election, has outlined his party’s vision and proposed projects for national transformation. He has also urged youth to massively register on the electoral list.

He was speaking during a press conference in Yaounde, on Friday, April 12. Lingom disclosed that the party was founded in April 2021 and positioned itself as a centrist political movement rooted in pan-African ideals.

He emphasised that URNA is not merely a political party, but a “movement of transformation”. At its core, he said URNA is driven by a strong desire to create a sovereign, unified and developed Africa, starting with Cameroon.

Far from adopting the rhetoric of political dislike, the URNA president made it clear that his pursuit of power is not one of confrontation but of constructive collaboration.

“I am not in a race for power for its own sake, but in a useful race; a race to provide solutions and support positive governance,” Lingom stated during the presser.

This philosophy of cooperation over conflict, he said, defines the URNA’s approach to national leadership.

He explained that to them, rather than calling for upheaval, he will engage with the current system critically but constructively, with the ultimate goal of national cohesion and reconciliation.

Lingom stated that core to URNA’s proposed reforms are the idea of reclaiming national sovereignty.

“The party strongly opposes lingering colonial-era mechanisms that continue to stifle Cameroon’s progress,” he said.

Among the issues he highlighted were the payment of colonial debt, the use of the FCFA and restrictions on independent military alliances.

“These imposed structures are remnants of a system designed to maintain dependency. We must free ourselves from these constraints if we are to become truly sovereign,” the URNA leader said.

He equally insisted on the mobilisation of the diaspora. Recognising their potential, the URNA president emphasised that the global Cameroonian community must play a more active role in rebuilding the nation.

While acknowledging that there is fragmentation within the diaspora, the political figure called for unity for a common cause.

“The diaspora is rich in talent and vision. Let us work together, beyond personal interests, for the greater good of our country,” he declared.

The party leader equally used the opportunity to give a strong call for civic responsibility. Cameroonians, the URNA president stressed, must take their role in governance seriously by registering to vote, making informed electoral decisions and supporting leaders who embody competence and integrity.

“A better Cameroon will not be built by critics, but by active, committed citizens who are willing to be part of the change,” he asserted.

Lingom noted that as election approaches, URNA seeks to distinguish itself through a message of reconciliation, sovereignty and purposeful development.

This, he said, can be seen through the slogan of the party: “Make everything necessary possible”.

“Together, we can realise the Africa we dream of. Together, we can build a stronger, sovereign, and prosperous Cameroon,” he stated.
