Konye Council Adopts Over 1.145B FCFA budget to develop municipality.

Administrative, municipal authorities, others immortalise event

Municipal Councillors of the Konye Council in Meme Division of the South West region have adopted the sum of 1,145,108,094 FCFA as the council’s budget for 2026.

 



This was during the second ordinary session of the Council that held at the Kombone-Bafaw community hall on Friday December 19, 2025. I was adopted in the presence of the Divisional Officer of Konye, Attah Moses Ndep, representing the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, of Meme Chamberlin Ntou'ou Ndong. 

Speaking during the session, the Mayor of the Konye, Dr Barrister Musima George Lobe, noted that the draft budget had an additional 41,706,3334 FCFA from the initial budget of 1,103,401,760 FCFA. This additional sum, he said, is allocated by the Local Governance and Resilient Communities Project, known by its French acronym, PROLOG and shall be uses for the solar electrification of Kurume. The additional amount, he stated, came a day prior to the holding of the session under review.

He underscored that amongst other important projects the Council shall be looking forward to complete its new chambers as well as the guesthouse. 

Mayor Musima presented an avalanche of projects to be executed by the Council for 2026, which include among others purchase of a 20 ton dump truck worth 100,000,000 FCFA( MINDEDEVEL), the rehabilitation of the 4.5 km Bosaka to New Town Mbu farm-to-market road (MINADER), the paving of Full Gospel Street (200m) phase II, worth 50,000,000 FCFA (MINDUH), the provision of Solar system to two integrated health centers (IHC Matondo and IHC Kokobuma) worth 50,000,000 FCFA (MINSANTE), the equipment of a Nursery block at GNS Dikomi Bafaw worth 45,000,000 FCFA (MINEDUB) and the construction of a Nursery block at Dikomi Bafaw worth 30,500,0000 fcfa.

For PROLOG projects, the Council shall upgrade the Konye giant water supply scheme, supply and install 32 solar street light from Weme- Bolo- Moboka for phase I, supply and install 21 solar street light from Weme-Bolo-Moboka for phase II, supply and install 30 solar street light in Kurume.

For Projects linked with the Special Council Support Fund for Mutual Assistance, FEICOM, the Council shall complete the Guest house complex and complete the new Council chambers.

For projects awarded in 2025, he averred that, the Council has executed up to three quarters of the work, with a realization rate of 70.35 percent. The projects executed, he posited are the equipment of the Konye Council radio, the construction of a slaughter house at Koba, the equipment of a Nursery block at Dipenda, the construction of a fish pond in Konye, the construction of a community hall at Kombone Bafaw, the equipment of a fish pond in Konye, the construction of a market hangar at Lobange. Other ongoing projects, he said are the rehabilitation/construction of roads in Mbakwa-supe, the construction of an Integrated Health Center in Wone, construction of Konye Council chambers, the construction of a Nursery school block at Dipenda while a project to rehabilitate the Konye Council buisness center and to complete a Guest house in Konye are on course

Spinoffs of the Kumba-Mamfe road as well, he noted left the Konye municipality with enormous benefits notably among which are the Matoh road project, the Wone and Ikiliwindi market hangars that are ongoing for the benefit of the populace.
