Youth, women’s empowerment: CAMTEL begins implementing Biya’s vision.

CAMTEL General Manager, Yah Judith Sunday epse Achidi poses with young recruits

The Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL, has begun implementing the   Head of State’s vision to promote greater youth and women empowerment and protection.

This is through the employment of 127 young technicians to boost its network and ensure quality service delivery.

Officials of CAMTEL said 24 hours after President Biya took the commitment to provide more opportunities for youth and women, the corporation immediately swung into action by retaining 127 young Cameroonians. They said the youths constitute the first batch of CAMTEL’s Professional Integration Program (PIP).

The young professionals were welcomed into CAMTEL on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. This was during a ceremony presided by the company's astute General Manager, Yah Judith Sunday epse Achidi.

The event took place at the National Emergency Telecommunications Network Centre in Ekounou, Yaounde. Selected from various institutions of higher learning across the national territory, CAMTEL officials said the move is to provide the young graduates with their first professional experience in various operational sections of the company.

Officials said after going through a two-week immersion period, the technicians are now ready to join CAMTEL’s operational teams on the field for a six-month period renewable once.

Speaking at the event, CAMTEL’s General Manager called on the young graduates to distinguish themselves through determination, engagement, integrity and knowhow.

She said: “The Professional Integration Program is an initiative led by CAMTEL…it is designed to provide recent graduates with their first professional experience in various areas of operations in our company”.

Stressing on the merits of such a program to integrate young graduates, Yah Judith said PIP aligns with the vision of the Head of State to provide more opportunities to women and youths.

She said the young technicians were immersed into the realities of the company through various theoretical modules like understanding the values, missions and vision of the company, network exploitation and maintenance techniques, Fiber Connect and others.

She said they also had to feel the practical realities by being embedded with the various technical teams on the field. Yah Judith added that CAMTEL has already given the young graduates a foretaste of the professional world as they embark on a new experience.

A representative of the young people thanked the GM"…for the opportunity,” assuring that they will “…be disciplined, professional and to shun all malpractices in the exercise of our duties”.

It was disclosed that over 270 students from higher institutions of learning across the country showed interest in the PIP that was launched months ago. The 127 students welcomed this week, CAMTEL officials said, were screened from the lot.

Close to 600 youths empowered

Officials of CAMTEL stated that the opportunity offered the 127 youths is the latest in a series of rigourous and transparent recruitment exercise that was launched in 2024.

They recalled that on October 31, 2025, the incumbent telecommunications operator welcomed 180 young commercial agents to boost its service delivery. That batch, they said, added to 75 engineers who were recruited earlier in February 2025 and 180 technicians welcomed in August 2024.
