At close of 2025 national prayer breakfast: Speakers charge Cameroonians to stay hopeful, strive for peace.

CNPB boss, Rev Dr Jean Libom Li Likeng addressing media yesterday

Cameroonians have been charged to remain hopeful and pursue peace and prosperity even in the face of the nation’s challenges. The call marked the end of the 16th edition of the Cameroon National Prayer Breakfast, CNPB Thursday in Yaounde.

It had in attendance the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Libom Li Likeng, and other key officials from all walks of life.

The event this year was under the theme: “Cameroon, rise with hope for a future of peace and prosperity”, with inspiration from Isaiah 32. 17-20 and John 10.10.

According to the President of CNPB, Rev. Dr Jean Libom Li Likeng, citizens must stay hopeful irrespective of the economic hardship, security issues, governance crisis and other challenges facing the nation.

He quipped that: “One might naturally wonder how we can talk about hope in the current context in Cameroon, where everything seems lost,” but asserted that, “one thing is certain: we are actors in our present and future, each of us will reap what we sow”.

Rev Dr Libom Li Likeng declared that: “All we want is for people to keep the fire burning. We have to follow the theme and rise with hope for peace and prosperity in the country”.

Cameroonians, he averred, “…must come back to God and transform ourselves so that we can act for the good of this country”. He charged everyone to work towards building “a sure hope” for future generations.

Religious leaders hail initiative

Religious leaders and other stakeholders hailed the CNPB, describing it as a foundational gathering for the peace and prosperity of Cameroon.

The General Secretary of the Council of Protestant Churches of Cameroon, CEPCA, Rev. Prof Mbengu David expressed delight that the initiative is directing the country to God.

“We are glad that people can think of assembling themselves to pray for Cameroon; Christian elite especially within the context of the aftermath of election,” Rev Prof Mbengu stated, remarking that: “It is a laudable and pertinent initiative”.

South African religious leader, Alfred Masekoameng, who runs a religious business ministry, made similar declarations. He referenced the Bible in Matthew chapter 18 verse 19 where Jesus assured of His presence where two or three are gathered to hail the initiative as a driver of unity.

“So, the gathering of the Saints in unity, in one accord is very important because that’s where things change,” the South African religious leader stated.

Masekoameng explained that: “Everything starts in the spirit and you will see the physical manifestation of what we prayed for right here. It is going to come and we are going to testify”.

Week-long groundbreaking festival

The 2025 edition of the Cameroon National Prayer Breakfast festival was launched in 2010 to champion the wellbeing of Cameroon through prayers. This year, it effectively flagged off in Yaounde on Saturday November 15.

This year’s event was punctuated by several educational and prayer activities introduced with Cameroon as the focus.

There were sports walk on Saturday which marked the start of activities.  This was followed by a two-day seminar from Monday November 17 to Tuesday November 18. Engagements were on leadership and visionary financial skills.

A prayer session for elected national and local officials was organized on Wednesday November 19. The next edition of the event will be held from November 14 to November 19 2026, officials announced.
