Residents of Limbe in Fako Division of the South West Region are girding their loins in preparation for the third edition of the Limbe Royal Chiefdom Cultural Festival, dubbed ROCULF.

Slated for March 21 to 22, 2025, ROCULF will take place at the Royal Chiefdom Palace, Jungle Village and the Beach Front.

As the countdown for the grand event draws near, the organising committee is cutting the Ts and dotting the Is to give the event the grandeur it deserves. The event will hold under the theme: “Cultural diversity for unity and progress”.

The event’s flyers indicate that many activities have been planned. They include; traditional canoe race, traditional wrestling, tug of war, cultural dances and choral music.

It will also feature exhibitions to showcase aspects of culture, notably our cuisine. There will also be a fashion parade and a caravan.

Another activity will be a sports walk with the itinerary being from the Fako SDO’s office through Half Mile, Church Street, Saker Junction, Manga Williams Avenue, and the Paramount Chief's palace.

Meanwhile, other diversified activities with other cultural groupings existing in Limbe will also be carried out.

Talking to The Guardian Post, the Paramount Chief of Limbe, HRM John Elufa Managa Williams, said: “We all agree that Limbe is a melting pot of culture as every cultural and tribal group are here represented. This is a novelty that has to be celebrated through the promotion of our cultural heritage”.

He added that as part of the preparation for the festival, a brass band has been acquired that will lead in the procession of the caravan.

“We are planning to carry out visits to orphanages with special needs, and to the hospital. I think it’s going to be a wonderful setting for everyone who will be coming, especially visitors to discover the rich culture of our people,” Chief Manga Williams said.

He added that: “Interestingly, this year, we will do a tombola to encourage the full participation of our people and to reward them. There are so many prices to be won, including television sets, standing fans, hand fans, pressing irons and headsets among others”.

“We encourage everyone to come on board and be a part of it. There is a special fabric for the event and we want the celebration to be very colorful. On the agenda for the festival is a sports walk that will take place on the first day, an ecumenical service that will hold on Friday and a cultural soiree where our local artists will be dishing out pure traditional music,” Chief Manga Williams disclosed.

“We will also share a barbecue. It is a time of communion with everyone. That is how this year’s festival will look like, but there are many more discoveries,” he noted.
