MTN Elite Two: US Abong Mbang face Aigle today in fierce bottom-table fight.

Aigle have two wins in nine league games this season

Union Sportif Abong Mbang and Aigle of Menoua will today lock horns in what is expected to be a fierce relegation dogfight in the MTN Elite Two championship.

The two teams that have both struggled since the start of the current season, will go head-to-head at 3pm at the CENAJES Stadium in Dschang, Menoua Division of the West Region.

It is a match day 11 fixture in Group A of the 17-club championship. US Abong are ranked fifth with 12 points while Aigle have managed just 7 points in nine matches.

Both teams will be hoping to come out on top as they seek to escape the red zone of the nine-club group where the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth-placed teams will be demoted to compete in a relegation playoffs series, while the rock bottom nineth-placed team automatically gets relegated to the regional league.

Aigle, on a run of two league wins this far, will be looking to build on the moral-boasting 1-0 victory they registered over FAP of Yasounde on match day 10 last weekend in Yaounde.

On their part, US Abong Mbong that have also recorded just two wins this season, over Aigle and ISOHSA of Limbe during the first round of the championship head into today’s game needing a victory at all cost.

The East Region club is without a win in their last three matches. All of the club’s last three games in the league ended in draws against Bafmeng United, Tonnerre of Yaounde and Fovu Club of Baham.

Apart from the Aigle Menoua versus US Abong Mbang today, match week 11 will round up with games on Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday, sixth-placed FAP will host struggling Fovu of Baham at the FECAFOOT Technical Center in Odza.

Bafmeng United will host leaders Eding Sport of the Lekie at the University of Bamenda Stadium on Sunday.

In Group B, Dragon of Yaounde will host Ngoketunjia United Football Academy at the FECAFOOT Technical Center on Saturday.

On Sunday, group toppers, Avion will be welcoming Apejes of Mfou at the Annex of the Reunifications Stadium.

Racing of Bafoussam will be up against Atlantic Sport Academy at the Bamendzi Stadium in Bafoussam while Yaounde II FC travel to lock horns with Unisport of Bafang in the West Region.
