Open letter to members of the Constitutional Council in view of the proclamation of the results of the October 12, Presidential Election.

members of the Constitutional Council,

Honorable members of the Constitutional Council,

As you prepare to proclaim the results of Cameroon’s October 12, 2025 Presidential Election, the Project C movement addresses you with utmost respect for the gravity of your mandate.

The Constitution of Cameroon, under Article 47, vests you with the final authority to rule on the regularity of presidential elections and to proclaim their results. This is not a ceremonial role, nor a formality to be carried out regardless of circumstance.

It is a constitutional duty- one that positions you as the ultimate guardians of the Republic’s legitimacy and the people’s sovereign will. Your actions at this moment will shape the legacy of your tenure and the course of our nation (see the Constitution of Cameroon, Article 47).

The Electoral Code, in Article 113, could not be clearer: results from each polling station must be made public immediately after counting. This provision is not a suggestion; it is a legal requirement designed to ensure that the citizenry can witness, verify, and trust the election process.

Across the country, Cameroonians documented and shared these results through photographs and videos.

Yet, the aggregated results now before you may not match those witnessed by the people at thousands of polling stations. This discrepancy is not minor. It is foundational, for in law, any outcome born from an unlawful process is itself unlawful.

No act, signature, or decree can legitimize results tainted by fraud. To do so would be to undermine the very spirit of the Constitution and the trust of the people. Your oath is not to any individual or institution, but to the Republic, the Constitution, and the people of Cameroon.

History offers you a precedent. In 2017, Kenya’s Supreme Court confronted evidence of irregularities in the presidential election and took the courageous step of annulling the results. Their decision was not only constitutional but inspired a continent by demonstrating that justice and integrity are possible, even when inconvenient or difficult.

You face a similar choice. We urge you to: compare the official results with the documented evidence from polling stations; order an independent audit, preferably with international observers; reject results that cannot be reconciled with public evidence; delay validation until all discrepancies are resolved.

If the results are legitimate, transparency will only confirm this. If they are not, your duty is to say so. Should you find yourself unable, in good conscience, to validate the results, we urge you to issue a dissenting opinion, resign in protest, or otherwise refuse to participate in the validation of fraud. Such acts of conscience would be remembered as courageous and honorable.

Your silence or acquiescence in the face of clear irregularities will not be forgotten. The legacy you leave will be carried by your children and written into the history of our nation.

When asked what you did at this critical moment, what will your answer be? Did you defend democracy, or did you validate its subversion? Twenty-eight million Cameroonians, and countless generations yet unborn, are watching. Will you be the Council that finally said “no” to illegitimacy and “yes” to the Constitution?

We call upon you to honor your oath. The choice is yours. The moment is now. History is watching.

Respectfully,

Project C Movement
