Ahead of proclamation of results: Chadian Ambassador urges compatriots in Cameroon to be responsible.

His Excellency Djidda Moussa Outman

The Chadian Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E Djidda Moussa Outman, has called on Chadian nationals living in Cameroon to act responsibly and with caution as the country awaits the announcement of the October 12 presidential election results.

The diplomat made the call in an official statement issued recently. In the statement, the Ambassador reiterated that Cameroon’s electoral process is an internal affair, cautioning Chadian nationals to be conscious of their actions.

The statement warned that it is strictly forbidden for any Chadian citizen to take part, directly or indirectly, in political activities, debates, or rallies linked to the election.

Ambassador Djidda also instructed Chadian nationals to refrain from expressing any opinion when the results are announced, stressing on the need for restraint and respect for the host country’s laws.

“I call on everyone to remain neutral, respect Cameroonian laws, and uphold Chad’s good image in this friendly country,” the ambassador said in the statement.

The embassy’s appeal comes amid a tense post-election atmosphere marked by political friction and protests in several cities since after the presidential vote.

By calling for restraint, the Chadian Ambassador said, his wish is that the move will help preserve peace and good relations between Cameroon and Chad.

The diplomat has warned his citizens against involving in any act which will jeopardise the relations of both countries.

The ambassador’s message to his citizens comes not long after the two countries signed a partnership agreement in September 2025. The agreement seeks to strengthen joint operations against threats like, trans-border insecurity, terrorism, transhumance, illicit trafficking, and the circulation of weapons.

Cameroon and Chad are actively members of the Multinational Joint Task Force of the Lake Chad Basin Commission geared at combatting the actions and activities of the nebulous sect, Boko Haram.
