Tchiroma claims ministers, security officials already congratulating him!.

Issa Tchiroma Bakary: FSNC presidential candidate

Issa Tchiroma Bakary, candidate of the Cameroon National Salvation Front, FSNC, has persisted in his claim of having won the October 12 presidential poll.

The former minister has multiplied outings via social media, maintaining his victory position.

He has equally claimed that some ministers and members of the country’s security high command have been calling to congratulate him.

While urging others across different walks of life to choose the path of truth, he decried fraud. Tchiroma has also appealed to the international community and relevant stakeholders to unite to defend what he calls the voice of the people.

‘Some ministers, military officers have already congratulated me’

On Saturday, October 18, Tchiroma released an appreciation message in which he said some members of government and officers of the military high command had already congratulated him for winning the October 12 poll.

He stated that in the last few days, some ministers have called him to show their support. Given the stakes regarding the country’s future, Tchiroma said many have chosen to stand on the side of truth by supporting him.

“I hope more will follow in the coming days as history will remember those who choose the people over privilege,” the FSNC leader remarked.

Within the security apparatus of the country, he disclosed some officers “with responsibility and foresight” have expressed their determination “to protect the people”.

Restricts communication to Spokesperson

Yesterday, Tchiroma made public another statement in which he revoked the role of all persons mandated to speak on his behalf and the FSNC.

Sunday’s statement indicated that henceforth, only his Campaign Director and Spokesperson, Dr Chris Manengs, “is allowed to speak on behalf of the candidate and engage in public speaking”.

Justifying the move, Tchiroma said the strategy is to “strengthen discipline, clarity and communication efficiency at this critical time for our nation”.

Promises to publish own results

Doubling down on his claims, the FSNC candidate, yesterday released yet another message, relating to what he said are results from 18 Divisions that account for 80 percent of the national electorate.

Tchiroma, in his statement, claims he won the October 12 poll, insisting that “the will of the people will not be confiscated”.

The opposition politician cited among other Divisions: Wouri, Moungo in the Littoral Region; Mfoundi and Lekie in the Centre Region; Mayo-Danay, Mayo-Tsanaga, Logone and Chari, Mayo-Kani in the Far North Region and Benue, Mayo-Rey and Mayo Louti in the North Region

Other administrative units the candidate mentioned are Vina, Lom and Djerem in the Adamawa Region and Noun, Menoua and Mifi in the West Region.

Tchiroma noted that in the cited administrative units, he has election return sheets duly signed by the competent officials to show that he won the election.

Yesterday’s move, he added, is “to guarantee transparency and prevent any manipulation”.

Tchiroma noted that the trends he has are “based on the signed official results sheets from polling stations, transmitted by our scrutineers”.

‘Our methodology is simple, credible’

The FSNC flagbearer qualified the 18 selected Divisions as being strategic, given that they form the electoral basins of 80 percent of the eight million persons on the electoral register.

He argued that winning in the said Divisions means “victory is assured”. Tchiroma said he has “…cross-checked with multiple sources”, citing Divisional Coordinators among others.

Tchiroma noted that every figure made public is backed “…with documented prove to avoid any dispute. He stated the figures are not “mere estimates but a faithful reflection of the will of the Cameroonian people”.

“People’s voice must not be stolen”

The FSNC leader appealed to the population, international community and observers to follow the trends closely.

He was emphatic that what he will release to the public “…are the people’s voice and must not be stolen or manipulated”. Tchiroma promised that: “Together, we will defend the truth of the ballot box”.

Representative quit vote counting Commission

Meanwhile, over the weekend, Tchiroma’s representative withdrew from National Vote Counting Commission, citing irregularities.

The party’s representative claimed the atmosphere at the Commission was not favourable, accusing others therein of working to give incumbent Paul Biya victory at all cost.

FSNC official, Parfait Mbvoum, accused the ruling party officials of spending days to falsify results from several polling stations.

Tchiroma’s party has expressed reservations with figures of voter turnout, especially the conflict-hit North West Region where incumbent Biya has been attributed sweeping victory.

Tchiroma’s gov’t in the making?

Mbvoum, a former supporter of the Social Democratic Front, SDF, has also disclosed that Tchiroma has begun constituting the list of his members of government.

“My declarations have been widely shared on the subject of the formation of a Tchiroma government in the coming days. Yes, I can confirm,” Mbvoum wrote on his Facebook page yesterday.

As we took to press last night, Tchiroma was yet to make public results from 18 Divisions as he had announced in the early hours of yesterday.
