Kristian Ngah Christian



The Publisher/Editor of Cameroon’s first ever and lone English Language daily newspaper, The Guardian Post; Ngah Christian Mbipgo, was born on August 30, 1975.

He hails from Ndu Sub Division, Donga Mantung Division; in the North West Region.

Ngah who is holder of a Bachelors Degree in Journalism from the Yaounde Advanced School of Mass Communication, ASMAC, has been practicing journalism for more than twenty five years.

The Guardian Post Publisher/Editor, is also holder of a US and British-sponsored Diploma in Investigative and Environmental Journalism respectively.

Ngah started his journalism career as an announcer with the state-run CRTV Bamenda in 1995.

He quit CRTV Bamenda in 1996 to join The Herald newspaper; where he served as reporter in Santa and Bamenda.

He was later promoted as The Herald Bureau Chief for Bui and Donga Mantung Divisions with seat in Kumbo.

In 1999, Ngah was transferred to Yaounde and was subsequently appointed as the Managing Editor of The Herald newspaper. He served in that position until 2001 when he quit to create his own newspaper, The Guardian Post.

Ngah was in 2013 among some six renowned journalists, selected from across Africa to cover the birthday party of the former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Aboubakar, in Yola-Nigeria.

The Guardian Post Publisher/Editor was also among ten African journalists, invited in 2016 by the US government to cover the country’s presidential election.

Ngah was in 2019 selected among some renowned African journalists to take part in an interactive session with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, in Lagos-Nigeria.

Ngah, who is the President of the Cameroon English Language Newspaper Publishers Association, CENPA, is also the Vice President of the Federation of Cameroon Newspaper Publishers, FEDIPRESSE. Heis also member of the Committee to study the publication of Legal Notices in Cameroon’s newspapers. 

Ngah, who has travelled widely, is also a regular panelist on CRTV’s TV programme, Press Hour.

The Publisher/Editor of Cameroon’s only English language daily newspaper was in 2018 profiled amongst the100 most inspiring Cameroonians, by a renowned magazine, Yes Cameroon.

His newspaper, The Guardian Post, which he started with a capital of 150,000FCFA, is one of few print media organs in Cameroon that own and manage their own printing press.

The Guardian Post is equally the first ever and only private print media organ in Cameroon that is lodged in its own constructed headquarters. Ngah is married and a father of four boys.
