Littoral CPDM bigwigs launch campaigns in Douala.

The Minister of State, Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Laurent Esso, who doubles as President of the CPDM Regional Campaign Commission for the Littoral chaired the event. 

Minister Esso in his keynote address, rallied supporters, sympathizers and allied political parties to stand firmly behind President Paul Biya.

He qualified the incumbent leader as "the only leader capable of guaranteeing peace, stability and national unity".

Esso outlined the strategic importance of the Littoral, home to the economic capital, stressing that discipline, cohesion and synergy among campaign structures at regional, divisional and local levels would be decisive in securing a resounding victory for President Paul Biya come October 12. 

He called on supporters to avoid distractions, resist provocation, and remain focused on mobilizing voters across the region.

The event also showcased the strength of the CPDM’s allied political parties including the UPC, PADDEC, MP, and APAR, all of whom reaffirmed their support for President Paul Biya’s candidacy.

In Douala, the spotlight was on Dr Roger Mbassa Ndine, the City Mayor and President of the CPDM Special Campaign Commission for the economic capital. 

His organisational prowess and ability to mobilize thousands of supporters were hailed as proof that Douala remains a CPDM stronghold. 

Minister Esso used the occasion to express confidence in Mbassa Ndine’s leadership, describing him as “the chief conductor of the CPDM orchestra in Douala.”

Other divisional campaign leaders also made their presence felt, including Transport Minister, Jean Ernest Massena Ngalle Bibehe for the Sanaga-Maritime; Sports and Physical Education Minister, Prof Narcisse Mouelle Kombi for the Nkam; and External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella for the Moungo.

All of them pledged to deliver sweeping victories for the party in their respective areas. The campaign launch in Douala drew thousands of supporters clad in party regalia, singing, dancing and pledging loyalty to the CPDM and its candidate. 

Observers say the successful mobilization sets the tone for what promises to be a vigorous regionwide campaign ahead of the October 12 presidential election.
