The Menji Cooperative Credit Union, MECCUL, will on February 23, 2025, celebrate its achievements in 31 years since it went functional. This would be during the credit union’s 31st Annual General Assembly, AGM, billed for the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, CPDM Party Hall in Dschang, Menoua Division of the West Region.

According to a release from the management of MECCUL, the highly anticipated AGM will be a historic moment to brief members on the road the credit union has covered so far. The AGM will also see the reliable credit union adopt a roadmap for 2025.

The management said top among the achievements of MECCUL is its financial stability that has stood the test of time in the last three decades and still counting.

Management also said it is looking back in amazement that as the first credit union in Lebialem Division of the South West Region, MECCUL has grown into a veritable instrument of poverty alleviation.

With seven branches and digital services including the payment of the salaries of civil servants, officials said MECCUL has also gone further to be offering services to members in the comfort of their homes.

In this light, it prides itself of using technology to bring services to its ever-growing members; indicating that top among them is that “you receive your salary at home because we bring it to your doorsteps through our digitalised services”.

The institution also said MECCUL has grown to become “the most reliable partner for business”, adding that it has “a high and assured liquidity, pre-notification for savings withdrawals” to just three days “without any charges”.

The release also indicated that during the February 23, 2025, AGM, MECCUL will vote a new leadership. “This is a credit union where members have equal rights to vote and be voted for. MECCUL puts the members’ hopes, dreams and needs above all through sustainable and flexible services,” it detailed.

When it comes to interest on loans, the management of the microfinance institution said: “MECCUL has one of the lowest interest on loans that you can think of because our rates range from 1 % to 1.7% across our different categories of loans”.
